Amidst the heavyweights of video game voice actors, Ashly Burch ꦓhas earned her spo𒀰t in that pantheon for the incredible work she has done throughout recent history. After starting out with a YouTube channel, "Hey Ash, Watcha Playin'?" she has gone on to star in some of the biggest games of the last decade.
Regardless of whether it's a good game, or a not-so-good game, a character full of charm and quirk, or one that thematically probes what it me♏ans to be a human bein🍷g, her performances always stand out as authentic and memorable.
Now, she's come around full circle and is doing more writing as⛦ well as live acting with her role in the hit TV show, Mythic Quest. She deserves all the accolades, but here's to hoping she doesn't leave video games behind. In these roles, she certainly left 🥃a stellar impression.
Updated April 1, 2022, by Theo Yurevitch: Ashly Burch certainly hasn't left behind her career in video games and shows no sign of slowing down with her resume of excellent performances. Even before the year is half over, she has already starred in some of the best games of 2022. Not only has her performance as Tiny Tina in the Borderlands franchise finally gotten its own standalone title with Tiny Tina's Wonderlands—a surprisingly great game—but she has also returned as Aloy in Horizon: Forbidden West (an unsurprisingly great game). Any fans of Ashly Burch's impeccable work will definitely want to check out these great new games but will also find a lot to admire in these older titles, too.
10 🥀 Herself - Saints Row IV
Alright, so Burch's role in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Saints Row IV might not be her biggest—or one that many even saw — but it's worth mentioning for what it means for Burch's career. In one of her earliest roles in a video game, she plays herself or, more specifi𒈔cally, her YouTube persona.
Fans can pick up the downloadable "Hey Ash, Watcha Playin'?" Pac🔯k to use her as a recruitable NPC — a Homie, in Saints Row parlance. It's weird and self-aware, but that is exactly ♌what the Saints Row series is known for.
9 Kate Bishop - Marvel's Avengers
168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Marvel's Avengers might not be the most popular quasi-live service game (despite bearing the trappings of one of the most commercially successfulꦚ franchises in recent history), but even if the game isn't great, it's got Ashly Burch in it, and she is. She plays Kate Bishop, the bow-wielding avenger that was brought into the Marvel mix with the Taking AIM operation.
She might not have been in the base game and many players might have moved 💧on, but her ability to deliver dialogue with wit and charm is worth returning for.
8 ♕ Cassie Cage - Mortal Kombat X
Most fighting games aren't known for their stories, but 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mortal Kombat has a rather extensive one. If you're down for camp and characters getting kicked in the head, it's a good time✃, and Ashly Burch delivers some good zingers as well. She plays Cassie Cage, the daughter of Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage, and the central hero of the game.
While Burch doesn't provide the vocal performance for Cassiꦕe Cage in Mortal Kombat 11,꧟ her work in MKX will go down as one of the best new characters in the Mortal Kombat universe.
7 Danika Hart - Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales
There are plenty of super-heroes abounding these days across all media—video games included—but one of the best iterations of the genre is what developer Insomniac Games has done with the Spider-Man character. Surprisingly they were able to top the stellar original PlayStation exclusive with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
It might not be the longest game, but it sticks numerous landings and has numerous welcome additions. One of those additionಞs is The Danikast, an in-game podcast hosted by Danika Hart, who is played with much pizzaz by Ashly Burch.
6 Viper🍃 - Valorant 𒊎
The first-person hero-shooter genre might be becoming a crowded space, but Valorant has carved out a niche for itself as one of the standout entries in the genre. Riot Games' free-to-pജlay model has propelled Valorant to massive popularity, and it helps that the game has got tight mechanics and plenty of cool characters as well.
Ashly Burch lends her vocal ta🃏lents as🎶 Viper, the most toxic agent of Valorant Protocol. The character can deliver put-downs as easily as poison clouds—she's pretty fun to play as to boot.
5 Tiny Tina - Tiny Tina's Wonderland & Borderlands
The Borderlands series has been known for zesty characters and spicey satire since its beginning, and while the series has had its ups and downs, it's hard to argue against Tiny Tina being a superlative character. Played by Ashly burch with plenty of wacky aplomb, she first appeared Borderlands 2, and is described as "the world's deadliest 13-year old." She's also one of the chattiest. In the hands of a less talented artist, the character might come across as less than tolerable, but Burch's performance lends enough manic humor to keep her interesting. Tiny Tina is especially fun to hang around with in her character's standalone spin-off game, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Tiny Tina's Wonderlands.
4 Parvati Holcomb - The O✅uter Worlds
If you played 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Outer Worlds and didn't pick Parvati as 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:one of your companions, you really missed out—or maybe you were just play𒆙ing Outer Wilds. Parvati Holcomb is charming, sinc🐼ere, and funny and this is entirely due to Ashly Burch's standout performance.
She's also handy to have around for gameplay reasons, but even if she was not, she'd be the best character in the game by a mile. Playing through her romance mission—which doesn't pair the player with her, but instead provides Parvati's character 🍎with actual agency —is The Outer Worlds at its best.
3 🅰 Chloe Price - Life Is Strange
The 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Life is Strange series has become b🎶eloved by fans for the way it deals thematically with important topics such as race, gender, sexuality, and identity. These games offer profound narrative experiences and memorable characters that are much rounder than you'd typically find throughout the medium. Pretty much everyone in these games is given an exemplary performance, wit♓h smart and sharp writing but in the original, Ashly Burch as Chloe Price is one of the best.
2 🐭 Mel - Th🅷e Last Of Us Part 2
As far as smart and nuanced writing in games goes, few titles have gotten more attention and accolades in recent years than The Last of Us series. Uncompelling and underbaked characters are few and far between in this series, and Mel is no exception. As played by Burch, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Last of Us Part 2's Mel i♈s a complicated character, one that both engenders immediate sympathy while also challenging the bounds of the player's empathy.
168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Everything is gray in The Last of Us Part 2 (especially that Seattle sky!) and the nua🃏nce provided by Burch's performance stands out as a climactic flashpoint.
1 🌼 Aloy - Horizon: Forbi🎀dden West & Horizon: Zero Dawn
Against all odds (who would have thought game-likers needed another open-world action RPG with skill trees, collectibles, crafting, and towers to climb), 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Horizon: Zero Dawn turned out to be one of the best games on the PlayStation 4. It melds all those systems together pretty expertly with an actually compellinಞg world to explore as well, but in truth, it would♍ not have worked nearly as well if it weren't for how great of a character Aloy is.
Ashly Burch plays the role with wonder, grit, and strength. She does so even more in the sequel, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Horizon: Forbidden West, which expands (excellently🐷) on everything its predecessor did. Without Aloy, the game would still be fun—shooting robot dinosaurs i🍌s a blast—but Burch's performance really lends a level of depth to the game. The wild lands that Aloy explores throughout the game are often lonely (albeit beautiful), but Burch's little asides and comments make it infinitely more engaging to get lost in.
