The world has been given a glimpse at even more unused  designs, as several development builds & demos of Pokémon Gold & Silver have leaked online, showing some tantalizing glances at gameꦏs that could hav🦩e been.

Despite The Pokémon Company's best efforts, the gaming world has become enthralled with all of this unseen Pokémon lore that has made its way online. The early days of the Pokémon franchise were filled with experimental ideas and awesome concepts, all of which were washed away when the series became too big to tamper with its formula. There are some amazing ideas buried within these unused designs and there are five Pokémon in particular that make us long to live in an alternate timeline where they made their way into Pokémon Gold & Silver.

5 The Skele❀ton Mons𒊎ter

Unused Pokemon Xenomorph

H.R. Giger was known for creating some of the most memorable and scariest monster designs in the history of cinema. His work has inspired creators all over the world, most notably the xenomorph from the Alien franchise.

The leaked builds of Pokémon Gold & Silver show Pokémon that are clearly inspired by Giger's work, including an early version of Gligar that resembles a face hugger. The most prominent xenomorph-inspired creature is the freaky looking skeleton monster seen above. It's unknown how this creature would have fit into the story of Pokémon Gold & Silver, but it could have been some kind of Mewtwo equivalent. Considering some of the other freaky designs cut from Pokémon Gold & Silver (th🍎e voodoo d💎oll, the zombie panda), it's likely that this Pokémon was cut for being a bit too scary or intimidating compared to the other Pokémon in the series.

4 ♕ Beta Wooper 🅷

Beta Wooper Pusheen Pokemon

Wooper made it into Pokémon Gold & Silver and there are many fans who love its design in the final version of the game, but it seems that Game Freak once had different plans for the Pokémon. There is an early version of Wooper from one of the leaked builds of Pokémon Gold & Silver that resembles Pusheen or the Annoying Dog from Undertale, even ♏though it was created a lot earlier. The wor👍ld was denied this cute Pokémon design and the fanbase might struggle to forgive Game Freak.

3 𝕴 Beta Dunsparce 🤡

Beta Dunspace Pokemon Gold & Silver

Dunsparce went through a number of different revisions throughout the development process of Pokémon Gold & Silver and it seems as if it was being refined all the way up to the fini🧸sh line. The early Dunsparce de𓂃signs were more serpentine than the final version of the Pokémon, even if it's missing its wings.

2 The Viking Longboat Lizard 🍒

Viking Longboat Pokemon Beta

It seems that the developers of the Pokémon franchise were interested in the sea serpent concept outside of Lapras, as there were similar designs planned to appear in Pokémon Gold & Silver. One of these was the 🥃unused Water-type starter line, which resembled the Loch Ness monster, wဣhile the other is an awesome-looking Pokémon that resembles a Viking longship. This regal bad boy would have been the perfect choice for a Surf slave.

1 🎶ꦚ The Kokopelli Pokémon

Beta Pokemon Kokopelli

Kokopelli is a trickster god from Native American culture, who plays a magic flute and oversees fertility. The most striking thing about Kokopelli is the early drawings of the god, some of which are centuries old. It seems that people at Game Freak were inspired by these designs, as a Koko❀pelli Pokémon was planned to appear in the Johto r🦹egion. It's possible that it was scrapped due to the god's early association with phallic imagery, which was slowly phased out over time.
