A Short Hike launched a couple years ago and subsequently carved out a place for itself in the hearts of many players and critics alike. It is a relatively short game - the clue is in the title - but its brief length certainly didn't preclude it from earning rave reviews, especially in a world of very big games that can take hundreds of hours to experience.
Originally released in July 2019 on Steam for PC it then arrived on the Nintendo Switch a year later, arguably a more fitting place for it as the portable console lent itself to the relaxing pace of the game. A Short Hike is an open world exploration game that managed to say a lot within its brief confines. A Short Hike comes to the PS4 and Xbox One on November 16, on their re🐽spective digital stores. A Short Hike will also run in 4K on the Xbox One X, Xbox Series X/S, PS4 Pro and the PS5.
On the , the game's creator Adam Robinson-Yu shared a little more about how he went about developing A Short Hike. "In A Short Hike, you'll be exploring the park and working your way towards the top of the mountain. There's plenty of areas to find and explore, but it didn't start this way. In the beginning, I just started sculpting areas that were fun to climb and glide between. At this point, the world and the player's movement were being designed hand in hand, and I created hills and valleys on whim to test out every tweak to the character's controls," he wrote.
