There is no such thing as a "perfect" length that all games should strive for. There are games that last 40 hours and feel too short, and there are titles that oveꦚrstay their welcome despite barely cracking the five-hour mark. At the end of the day, it all comes down to the pacing of the story and whether a game's mechanics justify the length of its campaign.

The action genre is primarily known for its fast-paced gameplay and immediate thrills🙈, with most genre representatives typically lasting around 8-15 hours. Like in everything, exceptions exist to this rule.🌃 Here are five action games that are surprisingly short, along with five titles that are too long.

The average length of the main stories as reported by will be u🐬sed as a refe🗹rence.

10 Short: As🦂ura's Wrat🌃h (7 Hrs)

Capcom's Asura's Wrath is a highly entertaining title that toes the line between anime and video games. Split into episodes, players follow the demi-god Asura as he seeks revenge on the gods who killed his wife and stole his daughter. Asura's Wrath is gloriously over the top, however, the gameplay primarily involves s🌞implistic beat '💯em up sections and quick-time events.

Only a fraction of the game's seven-hour runtime is interactive; furthermore, Asura's Wrath's real ending was only released as 𒁃DLC after the game's initial l♛aunch.

9 Long: Uncharted: Dra🎉ke's Fortune (9 Hrs) 🔥

via: playstation.com

168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Uncharted: Drake's Fortune serves as an excellent example that a game does not even need to hit double figures to be too long. Naughty Dog's 2007 title was a𒁃 good action 🦋game for its time, but it is rather limited and repetitive compared to its successors.

Towards the end of Nathan Drake's inaugural adventure, Drake's Fortune becomes little more than a shooting gallery as players have to conten♑d with wave after wavꦅe of faceless enemies. The uninspired gameplay does little to ease the tedium.

8 Short: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II (6 Hrs) 🌃

Although far from perfect, The Force Unleashed effectively used its eight-hour campaign to tell an engrossing story within the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Star Wars universe. Two years later, The Force Unleashed II would come out to middling reviews and quickly put an end to any hope of LucasArts' l🏅icense becoming a long-running franchise.

The Force Unleashed II was rushed out of the gate, something that is especially apparent in the disappointing PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 HD versions. The muddled storyline can easily be completed in six hours, a length that is not excessively short for a hack and slash title. Unfortunately, The Force Unleashed II'🅠s combat lacks the necessary depth to justify repeat playthroughs.

7 Long: Mad Ma﷽x (20 Hrs) ꦏ

Mad Max Fight Sequence In Game

2015's Mad Max earns itself some leeway due to being set in an open world, so it is naturally longer than the average action game. Be that as it may, Mad Max's story does not truly pick up steam until the final act, requiring players to push thro🍸ugh around 15 hours of uninteresting busy work.

Mad Max's open-world is understandably barren, given the setting and source material, but that does lead to a lot of wasted time between bouts of fantastic vehicular combat. Even if the side-content is largely ignored, Mad Max still overstays its welcome.

6 ꧑ ℱ Short: Mirror’s Edge (6 Hrs)

It is difficult to say whether Mirror's Edge is too short or the perfect length, as the parkour gameplay is so enthralling that the six-hour campaign flies by in an instant. By the end of the story, players should have grow𓄧n so accustomed to Faith's movements that running across rooftops and up buildings becomes second nature, even if the same cannot be said for the hand-to-hand combat.

As fluid as the gameplay is, Mirror's Edge's lack of freedom in it༒s level design means there is very little reason to replay the campaign once the credits roll; consequently, a longer story would have been welcome.

5 ♕ Long: Ōkami (34 Hrs)

Clover Studio's Ōkami is a masterpiece. It was brilliant on the PlayStation 2 and every subsequent platform it was ported to; that said, the story lasts too long. Putting aside optional content like collecting the Stray Beads, Ōkami's main campaign involves quite a lot of backtracking and repeat fights aꦚgainst bosses.

Thankfully, the world is quite gorgeous and the fights themselves are entertaining enough, but Ōkami would be arguably better wit🍰hout some of the reused content. Was there really a🧸ny need to fight Orochi three times?

4 ♏ Short: MadWorld (5 Hrs) ও

via: kotaku.com.au

PlatinumGames has crafted some of the best action games of the last two console generations, and MadWorld stands almost toe-to-toe with the studio's greatest creations. What causes the Wii title to fall short of the heights reached by Bayonetta and Vanquish is its short length.

At just five-hours, MadWorld is a fun but quick ride. Like PlatinumGames' other releases, MadWorld is designed to be played across multiple difficulty settings, but five hours is s♒hort even by the studio's standards.

3 🐼 Long: Devil May Cry 4 (11 Hrs)

168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Devil May Cry 4 is a slog to play through due to the campaign involving a lot of backtracking. For the first half of the story, players follow Nero as he 𓆉runs through a few different locations and bosses; for the second half, the focus shifts to Dante as he goes through the same levels but in reverse.

The repetition makes Devil May Cry 4 feel longer than it✨ actually is, even if the all-around fantastic combat mechanics help paper over the story's pacing issues.

2 💖 Short: Transistor (6 Hrs) 𒅌

Although not quite as good as Bastion, Supergiant Games' Transistor is still an impressive action-RPG with a robust battle system that includes real-time strategy elements, a surprisingly deep upgrade system, and🎉 a charming story set in a cyberpunk world.

At just six hours, Transistor stuffs a lot into its short campaign, especially since the combat takes some getౠting used to. It could have benefitted from being a little longer.

1 Long: Warriors Orochi 3꧅ (27 Hrs)

Warriors Orochi 3 has one of the longest campaigns out of any Musou game on the market. If one were to focus solely on the main story missions, the campaign should take roughly 15 hours to complete, which is uncommonly long for this type of title. Like othergames, Warriors Orochi 3's 🔜length can be, at the minimum, do𝕴ubled if a player takes the time to level up each character.

Bringing together characters from Dynasty Warriors and Samurai WarriorsWarriors Orochi 3's expansive roster goes a long way🃏 in justifying the story's length; however, the simplistic 🍌gameplay begins to wear thin long before the finish line is reached.
