168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Activision Blizzard sent out a message to many of its employees on January 31, 2022. But this wasn’t just any old announcement. The company seems to have been ♒trying to slow down or even stop the process of unionization.
The story was broken by former employee and union organizer at Activision Blizzard Jessica Gonzalez who that Vice President of Quality Assurance Christian Arends “just posted this shit in company Slack.” Gonzalez noted how the announcement was “posted in a channel where you can’t reply to threads” despitꦑe the fact that workers were called upon to “send me questions.”
“I cannot stress this enough, the company respects employees’ National Labor Relations Act rights to 🐽have these discussions about potential unionization and supports your rights to do so,” Arends pointed out. But this was only the beginning of the announcement. The executive went on to answer several outstanding questions in terms that bordered on union busting. There were several thumbs down at the bottom left by employees in response.
“Job security here at Activision Blizzard rests with our ability to produce epic entertainment for our fans,” Arends remarked. “A union doesn’t do anything to help us produce world-class ga🏅mes and the bargaining process is not typically quick, often reduces flexibility, and can be adversarial and lead to negative publicity.” He went on to say that “all of this could hurt our ability to continue creating great games. While many union contracts include a ‘just cause’ provision and a grievance pr🍌ocess, this is really just a different way to deal with disciplinary issues.”
When it came to the matter of collective bargaining, Arends played up the process of private negotiation. “In a direct relationship model where you and the company share goals, agreement is quick and the company can swiftly make changes,” the executive said. “In a bargaining model, agreement and change comes quickly only where th🅺e union has the exact same goals and also has no additional goals that it would rather insist on. It often takes months or years to come to a collective bargaining agreement.” Arends mentioned that “a unionized company cannot act quickly on its own.”
Arends concluded the announcement by noting that “even though you may have signed a union authorization card, you are not obligated to vote for the union during an election should one occur.” The executive pointed out that “National Labor Relations Board elections are conducted by ‘secret ballot,’ so nobody will know which way any emplo💟yee votes.”
This comes in the wake of another 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:announcement by an executive at Activision Blizzard, Brain Bulatao, that called upon employees to “consider the consequences” of unionizing. The message was met with a similar barrage🌳 of criticism from all corners after it was leaked to the public on December 10, 2021. Activision Blizzard went on to be acquired by Microsoft about a month later. How the company will be handling its employees going forward remains to be seen, but the approach taken by Arends might provide some insight into the matter.
