Alan Wake 2: Night Spꦬrings DLC - Story, Explained
♪Trees, machines, weird mysteries😼, we got freaky fantasies that all need some explaining in Night Springs!♪
The first episode, Number One Fan, revolves around diner worker and Alan Wake superfan Rose trying to save her beloved writer. It is the most combat-focused episode of the three, as Rose has to shoot her way through plenty of people and traverse♋ quite a distance from her small diner in the middle of town.
Night Springs: Number One Fan Walkthrough
With this being one episode of three for the DLC, the length of Number One Fan is relatively shortꦍ. Some of the shortest episodes in Alan Wake 2 🦄take longer than Number One Fan takes to complete if you follow the story and shoot through enemies quickly.
Diner Walkthrough
The episode begins with Rose (or just the Fan) working at her diner. As Rose, you have to refill the coffee and clean up the empty plates of customers around you, and you can optionally offer advice to ✱customers as well.
After completing all those tasks, one customer will ask for literary recommendations. Rose will remember she has a book by her favourite writer in the back.
Go down the back hallway and open the room to the right. As you go to grab the middle book from the table, Alan Wake will speak up from the talking fish on the wall. He's in trou🦩ble and needs your help.
Go to the kitchen, which will now be open, and head to the slightly ajar back room to the right. This room is filled with all the guns from the Alan Wake 2 campaign, but the only two you can use are the Hunting Rifle and the Shotgun.
These two guns are slightly better versions of the guns from the base game, specifically the shotgun. It has a fully automatic function, a♎llowing the player to hold the shoot button to ꦅplow slugs into enemies.
Her healing items are better, too, as her pills heal her to full health no mat♏ter𒀰 what.
As you leave the kitchen on your journey to save Alan, the whole town will be cheering for you, telling you to head to the boatyard at the end of the road on the right. Reaching the door and activating it will reveal it i𓆉s locked before Rose kicksꦿ the wooden door open.
Boatyard Walkthrough
Walking in the boatyard, you will run into a man near a motorcycle. The conversation choices don't affect the outcome, as this is the antagonist of this story: Bad Boy. Dubbed "Alan Wake's br🍃other," he mirrors him in looks with a more gruff e🎃xterior, similar to Mr. Scratch in the main game.
He will leave after talking to Rose and release his army of haters to fight anyone who stops him. These enemies play exactly like enemies from Alan Wake 2, but aren't possessed by darkness; iℱnstead just avid haters of the writer's work.
They will run toward you and do a good amount of damage if they hit, while others will stay at range and throw knives, sickles, and other♐ small projectiles to hurt you.
Rarely, some huge haters will show up, who do not get knocked back by shotgun shots and have quiꦕte a lot more health than others.
With the weapons and healing this episode offers, playing with the shotgun and running down enemies is usually your best option. The rifle is just too slow and onl🥃y useful to shoot down the haters that throw kn❀ives at you.
Keep in mind, there aren't nearly as many pills to collect in this episode in comparison to the weapon ammo. To be frank, you should never run out of ammo in this episode unless you waste bullets frequently between💛 figh𝔍ts.
In this first combat, if you find yourself struggling, some propane tanks across the boatyard will do massive damage to a small area if shot.
After defeating this first batch of haters, Bad Boy leaves a trail of fire from his motorcycle, showing where he went. Follow this path through the forest, defeating more hat🦩ers along the way.
The forest isn't easy to get lost in, especially in comparison to the main game, as logs will block paths that lead away from the objective.
Cabin Walkthrough
Eventually, you will reach a small cabin along the coast of Night Springs. Bad Boy taunts Rose, which requires the player to go upstairs and search for her writer. He isn't there, as the Bad Boy leꦑads her back outside.
Heading outside, you need to go to the beach. There are a couple of beaches along this coast, but the game tells you which beach you need to go to with this sign just outside the cabin.
At the beach, Bad Boy will offer some more conversation that will eventually lead to more fighting. He is off to send his army to attack the writer at his home while you have to continue your trek through the forest, fighting haters and following fire tracks.
Just as you reach the wooden stairs in the forest, the writer will appear as a deer to encourage Rose to keep going. Follow that path to eventually reach the home of the writer, which is iꦉn the same location as the Valhalla Nursing Home from the main game.
House Walkthrough And Boss Fight
This is the boss fight of the episode, against Bad Boy. He will teleport across the parking lot, shooting heart-shaped projectiles that move slow and knock Rose down if they hit. He also shoots wide ground attacks that hit like a truck.
The damage is significant from either attack, but those projectile hearts can be shot down.
After pumping enough shells into Bad Boy, he'll turn into a wolf; the same wolf he appeared as when he disappeared earlier🉐 in the episode.
This changes his attacks from heart-themed to directly like the wolf enemies in the main game, hiding in the bushes and trying to jump on Rose from her peripheral💖 vision.
This can be very frustrating to track and shoot, but whether you shoot the wolf or not, there is a chance that it will revert back to the Bad Boy form, allowing you to see and shoot him much easier.
Towards the end of the fight, Bad Boy will even transform his motorcycle into another wolf to attack you. Scary at first, but the motorcycle wolf has little HP, and shooting it a couple of times will return it to its dormant motorcycle form.
After defeating Bad Boy, there still is one thing to do: save the writer from the haters currently doing a home invasion. Shoot your way through the house, starting with a couple of regular foes in the entrance rooms to the two big haters at the stairs.
Climbing the stairs all the way to the writer's room will reveal a couple more haters, including one that breaks through a room at the top floor.
Defeat the final hater outside the writer's room and open the door, which will𝐆 show that Alan is safe. He embraces Rose, offers a chee🌃sy moment of love before the credits roll and the episode ends.
Episode one is complete, but there still are two Night Springs tales to go through: North Star and Time Breaker.
