As it turns out, Nintendo Switch is capable of some very impressive visuals. Who’d have thought that Alien: Isolation could look better on the humble handheld hybrid than it does on🐼 PlayStat꧙ion 4?

The Switch is in a great place right now. With the addition of Nintendo Switch Lite and heavy hitters like 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokémon Sword and Shield releasing (plus other huge names like 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Animal Crossing: New Horizons in th🌼e pipeline in the coming months), the systℱem is sure to have a successful holiday period. It’s not just about the usual big IPs, though.

Another important factor in the Sw♏itch’s success is that… well, third-party dev🅰elopers actually want to release their games on the system, unlike the poor old Wii U. Lots of multi-format titles are making their way to Nintendo’s console as well, while huge titles from yesteryear (well, the last few years) are also being ported across. Better late than never, after all.

For many, it was miraculous enough that the likes of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt even run on the system at all, let alone actually playing pretty darn well. Switch is, of course, rather underpowered compared to its competition. Even more impressive than that is the performance of another big Switch port: Alien: Isolation. It’s arguabl♏y even betteཧr than the Xbox One and PS4 versions!

As reports, demanding games that are ported to Switch will inevitably take a hit. Isolation, too, is lacking in certain a༒reas, but has actually gained in others. Their report states of the Switch version:

“In docked mode, the game maintains a resolution near 1080p most of the time but drops to resolutions such as 1026p, 900p, 882p and as low as 756p in the worst case.”

That certainly sounds bad and may be enough to send some gamers running for the🍰 hills. It’s only one part of the story, however:

“While the PS4 and Xbox One versions are locked at 1080p, the Switch version is substantially cleaner in motion. This is due to a reliance on more modern accumulation temporal anti-aliasing. This approach massively reduces in-surface aliasing and edge shimmering to the point where it looks flat out better than the original console release, even if it is running at a higher pixel-count.”

In handheld mode, of course, the resolution is reduced and isn’t consistent either. Even so, edges reportedly look smoother than they originally di😼d and the game is very impressive in motion even with this instability.

In short, this is a very impressive port that does jꦚustice to one of the best horror experiences in recent years. Ambient occlusion and shadow draw-in have been sacrificed, but it seems to have been an excellent trade overall.
