The developers have already revealed the game takes place 23 years after Alien 3. to studio head Craig Zinkievich, creative dire▨ctor Matt Highison, and narrative designer Chris L’Etoile to learn how exactly Aliens: Fireteam’s story intersects with the rest of the series.
Zinkievich explained that by the beginning of the game’s events in 2202, the colonization of the universe is far more aggressive, and the player’s battalion is sent to patrol a “space frontier.” On the way, the ship receives a distress signal from LV-895, where Xenomorphs have✅ already killed everyone. Cold Iron Studios head said despite the game being a co-op survival shooter, it’s “pretty heavily bent towards RPG,” as devs were trying “to make it so players can inhabit the world” themselves. Players can expect extensive customization options and a large number of weapons with modifications — about 30 guns and aꦿbout 70-80 attachments to them. Weapons are also created with references to the companies that produced them; there are even products from Hyperdyne Systems, responsible for the creation of Ash and Bishop in the Alien movies.
The studio says there will be more than 20 types of enemies in the game, including not only aliens but synthetics as well. Aliens: Fireteam will also introduc൩e species that have not previously appeared in other Alien media. The team even considers Prometheus and Alien: Covenant to be part of the canon, so some things from these movies will also affect the game.
Aliens: Fireteam🧔 will receive a prequel novel, Aliens: Infiltrator, that takes place at the Weyland-Yutani facility, where the scientists conduct experiments with Xenomorph biomaterial. You'll later deal with the results of these experiments in Fireteam.
