Before beginning, we have a few stats to share. First of all, the best-reviewed game according to is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which has a 99 for the original N64 version.
Now, this lꦏist contains twelve games, all of which are above 94. Why did we start at 95? Five away from the top is ♋pretty dang close to perfect, right? it is also interesting to use the same metric to compare how well the 2010s did next to its predecessor.
We didn’t include the decade before that, which included Ocarina of Time, because Metacritic does not have a lot of that decade's consoles aggregated like the Super Nintendo. Anyway, the highest reviewed game of the last decade was Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 in 2000, which earned a 98.
Between that release and everything down to an aggregate score of 95, the 2000s managed twenty-three entries! This does not include re-releases or expansions. With Half-Life 2, BioShock, the original Halo, and so many other brilliant games, the 2000s were more impressive than its successor. That’s not to say these twelꦑve games aren’t great, though. So, without further delay, let’s see what they are.
12 🔯 Meta𝕴l Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (95)
It’s a shame Hideo Kojima was not able to finish the game he wanted to make, but even without it being 100% complete, The Phantom Pain is nearly the ideal Metal Gear experience.
The game plays like a dream. It combines an open-world sandbox with stealth mechanics, making it just as fun to play as i🍎t is to ingest all of the weird flame whales and skull people.
11 🔯 Portal 2 (95) 🍰
The original Portal created a puzzle game with a campaign, or more like a story that is worth something. Who could eve🍸r forget “The cake is a lie” an𒅌d the many other memes generated by the game?
While Portal 2 isn’t as groundbreaking, it is just as addictive as𓆉 a puzzle adventure. Plus, that ending is something one has to see to believe.
10 The 🔴Laꦕst of Us (95)
The Last of Us ended the PS3 lifecycle in a major way. The same can hopefully be said about its sequel. While it may, at first, look like just another zombie-like apocalypse game, The Last of Us was much more than that.
The story, for example, still haunts us to this day with both heartwarming memories and episodes of pure terror. Naughty Dog really is one of the bes🉐t in the bi🐷z.
9 Red Dead Redemptio𝄹n (ไ95)
The decade started out with a bang, literally, what with the shots of revolvers exploding in the premiere of Red Dead Redemption in 2010.
It was the perfect video game Western of its time, proving that the Grand Theft Auto formula really do🦂es work in almost any era. We wonder what other time periods Rockstar could pull off. Will the studio ever go to space?
8 The Elder Scrolls V: S꧃kyrim (96)
What is there left to say about 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Skyrim? Eight years later, it is still getting supported by Bethesda with new releases and fans hav๊e also been hard at work with mods. It is the gift that keeps on giving.
Nowadays, the graphics, no matter what console one plays on, look dated and maybe even ugly; however, Skyrim is just as fun to go out and explܫore today as it was in 2011.
7 Mass Effect 2 (96) ꦚ
Mass Effect 2 is the peak of the series. It had a killer opening, putting a complete twist on how the last game ended. On top of that, it felt g💎ood getting the band back together.
Everything from the story to the tweaked gameplay elements, and the lack of those annoy♈ing elevators, made the sequel more fun to play. Plus it has some o⭕f the best DLC in gaming history.
6 🌼Batman: Arkham City (96)
Batman: Arkham Asylum was a surprise to all. A good Batman game actually exists and won some Game of the Year awards? Whoa, no way. Rocksteady hit it out of the park for this sequel too, taking the confines of the asylum and opening it up into a desolate city of cr🥃ime.
Of the two, Arkham City is arguably better, but it is honestly l🉐ike comparin🍰g diamonds.
5 💝 The Legend of Ze💫lda: Breath of the Wild (97)
After many y🌼ears of disaster with the Wii U, Nintendo finally bounced back on its feet with the launch of the Switch in 2017.
Along with it was a complete reworking of one of their most beloved franchises: 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Legend of Zelda. Breath of the Wild really was like a new Skyrim, but ♒arguably a thousand times better. Leave it to Nintendo to take a wildly 🍬popular idea and perfect it with a fine sheen.
4 Super Mario Odyssey (97) 🧸
2017 began with a banger and Nintendo ended it with one as well via Super Mario Odyssey. It is the best 3D Mario since, well, ever. Look. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Mario 64 was groundbreaking, but its graphics and contr⛦ols are dated.
The same goes for every other 3D Mario. Well, except for Super Mario 3D World, which is often forgotten. Point is that Odyssey brought the magic back to the franchise.
3 Grand Theft Auto Vཧ (97)
If one looks at the top fifty reviewed games on Metacritic, almost every 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Grand Theft Auto entry is featured. Rockstar may take forever to release a new game, but when they do,💟 it is guaranteed to be popular.
Like Skyrim, GTA V keeps making money thanks to its online component. Hopefully, this won’t slow down 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Grand Theft Auto VI b꧋ecause 2013 🐷is being to look pretty old right now.
