War never changes, but Fallout𓆉 does. The popuꦫlar video game series is leaving the computer screen and entering the TV screen. Fallout company Bethesda has announced a partnership with Amazon Studios to .
Not much is known about the series at the moment, but Kilter Films is set to produce the project. Kilter Films is best known for producing HBO’s Westworld, and is currently in pre-production for another Amazon series – an adaptation of The Peripheral by cyberpunk genre pioneer William Gibson. Clearly, executive💮 produc🉐ers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are no strangers to science fiction. Additionally, Joy recently directed the feature film Reminiscence, which was also produced by Kilter Films.
Todd Howard, creative director and executive producer on Bethesda’s Fallout games and face of the company, praised the producers. He says that Bethesda has been looking for a way to adapt Fallout to the screen, and that he knew “ꦰfrom the moment [he] first spoke with Jonah and Lisa” that they were the ones for the job. Likewise, Albert Cheng, COO and Co-Head of Television on the Amazon Studios side of the production said that the producers were the “perfect storytellers” to bring the iconic Fallout universe to TV.
This is not the first attempt to bring Fallout to the screen, but it is💞 the first to get this far. Fallout’s oꦕriginal creators, Interplay Studios, createdto adapt several of their games into movies. A script treatment was written in a partnership with Dark Horse Entertainment, but ultimately it went nowhere. Bethesda has turned down numerous Fallout movie offers, and that “nothing has really clicked” in the past. Previously, fan-made mini-series is the closest thing Fallout had had to an official adaptation.
Time will tell whethe🍌r Nolan and Joy do this iconic franchise and setting justice. They will not be the only voices involved with the project Kilter Films’ Athena Wickham and Bethesda Softworks’ Todd Howard and James Altman are involved with the project as well. There have been no announcements as to when the series will be released, but it is currently in production.
