The Like A Dragon series, formerly known as , is known for being silly. Its main stories can be heart-wrenching and serious, but take one look at any of the side stories from any of the games and you’ll see what I mean. From near-naked men dressed as babies to bizarre cults with even more bizarre dances, Like A Dragon leans into the ridiculous and strangeness of the world it's created. I’ve written 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:an entire article about its campiness, and how by 🐼straying bravely into absurdity🍬, it made itself one of the most beloved franchises in video games.

I knew from the moment I played at Tokyo Game Show that it was going to be 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:my new favourite game, because it dives headfirst into how absolutely ridiculous a Like A Dragon game can an☂d should be. I zoomed across Honolulu on a Segway, ate açai, and beat the hell out of groups of American tourists. It was so fun that I’ve been raving about i♏t to anybody who will listen, but yesterday’s trailer has sent me into a complete tailspin over how excited I am to play this game.

During the Xbox Partner Preview yesterday, a showcase for Microsoft’s upcoming third-party games, Ryu Ga Gotoku shared a trailer that showcases a game mode that is basically a game within a game. The series is no stranger to minigames, with an array of side activities always ready for you to dip into – my favourite is always making a bunch of hardened criminals sing ꧅karaoke – but Infinite Wealth has basically transplanted Animal Crossing into Hawaii… which I guess is kinda where New Horizons was set too.

The trailer shows Ichiban Kasuga hopping onto a dolphin (I know, right?) and riding it to DonDoko Island, where Ichiban can, inexplicably, create and run his own resort island. You can coll꧃ect resources like ore to craft items with, fish on the beach, create entire buildings and cabins, and even customise the whole island. You can make friends with the people living there, including a parrot named PingWing. You can give people gifts to improve your relationship with them, and develop the island further to appeal to more demographics. You can catch bugs with your net. There are also two somewhat terrifying mascots who are, I assume, in your employ, but that’s neither here nor there.

It seems completely ridiculous that they’ve put Animal Crossing into Infinite Wealth, but it really is in keeping with the spirit of the games. After all, had Mario Kart and Pokemon in the game, so it isn’t the first Nintendo game transplanted into the series. But this game mode seems so extensive that it could be an entire spin-off game on its own. I’m not likely to spend that much time on it, myself – I don’t have the patience to build entire island resorts – but it looks fun to dabble in, at the very least. Yakuza is famed for having minigames that yank you away from the main story, like the cabaret management in , and thisꦫ could easily get the same reactions from players. I can’t wait to see what else Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth has in store.
