That said, the Animal Crossing community seems to agree that not all cats were created equal, and, while everyone seems eager to invite Raymond to their island, others are desperate to get Tabby to move out. Here are our 10 favorite Animal Crossing: New Horizons cats, ranked!

10 Rover

Alright, we're cheating a bit here; Rover can't actually move to players' islands in New Horizons—in fact, he's barely in the game at all—but we couldn't help but add this fan-favorite feli🌜ne to th🌠e list.

Encounterable during New Horizons' May Day special event, players who worked their way through Tom🐻 Nook's maze could meet this familiar face and earn a special furniture item. Though he only offered a few lines of dialogue and didn't drastically impact the game, Rover's recent cameo was definitely memorable, and we're hoping to see more of him in future updates!

9 Purrl

A longtime staple of the Animal Crossing franchise, Purrl is a fairly controversial inclusion, as her snooty attitude and fashionista flair are major turn-offs for some players. However, she's ๊an adorable calico we'd love to invite to our island any day of the week, even if ༺her eyes do sort of look like they're upside down.

Her catchphrase, "let them drink cre✨am" is an homage to the quote "let them eat cake," which is , and, though she's a bit overbearing at times, it's hardꦦ to pass up on a cat with the word "purr" in their name.

8 Ankha

Much like Purrl, Ankha is a classic cat villager who first appeared in the original Animal Crossing GameCube title. Another snooty villager, Ankha can seem a bit too high on herself at times, but, given that she's based on Egyptian culture, which was famous for its respect and worship of catᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚs, that's understandable.

Perhaps the coolest thi♛ng about Ankha is her house. Decorated like a bonafide ancient Egyptian tomb, it's really a sight to behold, and it definitely sticks out when compared to most ot♏her villager's living spaces.

7 Kid Cat

A reference to a Japanese television series൩ which is unfortunately lost on most North American players, Kid Cat is considered to be one of . Though his൲ jock personality can rub some the wrong way, it's hard to deny the charm of this unique islander!

His trademark 🅷catchphrase, "psst," makes us feel like everything he's telling us should be kept on the down-low, even though it's usually just silly nonsense. He's also sporting some super cool headwear, and he's definitely the type of villager we'd all want to have in o💛ur games.

6 Rosie

Rosie is definitely one of the most adorable villagers in the entirety of the Animal Crossing franchise. Her huge anime eyes, cute purple fur, and high-pitched voice culmina✅te in one treasure of a villager, and those able to invite her to live on their islands aren't likely to ever allow her to move out.

Eternally peppy and upbeat, Rosie is always a joy to ch🌠eck up on. Her house may be just a bit too... well, overly-pink for some, but her positive energies are absolutely necessary to counteract the negative vibes emitted by some less-than-friendly villagers. (Get off of my island, Angus.)

5 Punchy

Undoubtedly one of the funniest animals in the series, Punchy is known for saying something comple😼tely outrageous every time he is encountered. From complaining that someone may be boobie-trapping his evening walks to complaining that his jar of jam skipped town, he never fails to get us laughing.

He often plays second fiddle to Bob, as both ar🐎e cat villagers with lazy personality types, ♊and, while the purple cat is arguably more well-known, we couldn't help but mention our black-and-white bestie.

4 Lolly

A tabby cat villager made visually distinct thanks to her stylized eyes, Animal Crossing's Lolly is one of our absolute favorite cats. Boasting quite the sweet tooth, her catchphrase, "bonbon," is the French word for candy, and꧃ her name in Japanܫese versions of the game, "Ramune," is a reference to a soft drink.

Though she has a normal personality, she's fairly bubbly and pleasant to be around. As boisterous as some animals can be,♉ it's nice to know that we have villagers like Lolly to kick back with when things get too crazy.

3 Tangy

Tangy is, without a doubt, one of the Animal Crossing community's favorite cat villagers. Less of a cat and more of a citrus fruit, Tangy can definitely stand out in a crowd, and she's right up there with Coco and Pietro when it c💜omes to causing players to 🐟double-take.

Sporting a green leaf sprouting from the top o♑f her head, Tangy really does set herself apart. One of her favorite phrases is the old adage "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade." Given her appearance, however, we have to wondꩲer if she knows exactly what she's saying.

2 Bob

Perhaps the most hilarious villager of the bunch, Bob the purple cat is the Patrick Star of the Animal Crossing world. Sleeping until late in the day and lounging around are two o🥀f his favorite activities, and we wouldn't have it any other way!

Some think his name is a play on the word "bobcat," though we have yet to see a purple bobcat in the wild. Additionally, fans speculate that his odd catchphrase, "pthhhpth," is supposed to be 🐲an onomatopoeia of a cat coughing up a hairball. Come on, who doesn't want Bob on their island?

1 Raymond

At last, we have series newcomer Raymond. Sporting a sharp pair of glasses and a fetching grey waistcoa❀t, he's one of the fanciest villagers in New Horizons. Plus, his heterochromia—something🐻 that's not uncommon in certain cat species—makes him a definite standout!

Famous for his adorable quips and for the fact that he can be made t🌜o wear a maid outfit, Raymond is easily the most adorable new Animal Crossing villager, and those lucky enough to get him to move in will almost certainly never permit him to leave.
