Talk To Tom Nook
After completing the first batch of tutorials, go talk to Tom Nookꦐ in🀅 the town square of your island. Make sure you've done your DIY lessons and such first, too. Tom Nook will dial up a distant friend on his Nook Phone, then clue you in to their convo.
That friend is incredibly interested in 🎀the local flora and fauna of the island. Nook tasks you with collecting five examples of wildlife, then bringing them back for him to share.
With that, it's time for you to get to work!
Collect Five Bugs and/or Fish
You're off! Make sure you have either a Flimsy Net or Flimsy Fishing Rod, then set out into the wilderness. You'll need to collect five unique forms of wildlife, then return to Tom Nook and hand them over. Note that you๊'re really surrendering these things; you won't be get🔯ting any cash for exchanging items.
Once you've given Tom Nook the items, he'll alert his friend on the phone. He'll then 🦩give you a crucial item: Blathers✱' Tent!
Place Blathers' Tent
Next, you'💝ll want to find a cozy space on the island to set up the tent. Put it literally anywhere - it doesn't really matter, so long as you don't try to build on the water or beach.
Once you've cleared the space, put down the tent. You'll see a construction site set up - the site🐻 of Blathers' home and of your future museum!
Wait A Day
Wait until the next day. If you're playing late at night, you won't have to wait too long. From our experience, days turn over at around 5 AM. Regardless, you won't have access to Blathers immediately, so either find a different way to kill time or go outside to catch 𒐪some fresh air. Actually, maybe put the kibosh on that last one - social distancing and all.
When the next day starts, go to where you placed the construction site and bam: Blathers' tent is set up. Go inside and talk to Blathers, who will invite y🍰ou to donate new species to his ongoing effort in buil𝔉ding a museum. Not only that, but he'll give you the recipe for two incredibly important items: the Flimsy Shovel and the Vaulting Pole.
Not only will the Shovel allow you to dig up fossils, hit rocks, and plant trees, but the Vaulting Pole will let you explore another that portion o💧f your island!
Blathers is a vital part of you💦r community, and gives you access to some of the most important tools that you'll need in the early game. It's worth it to go out of your way and try to get him on your island as soon as possible!
