Walking Stick Availability

Players in the north can encounter the stick-like bug July through November, while Southern Hemisphere players can find them between January and May. Oddly enough, there are two different times of day when bug hunters can find the insect. Morning players can locate them during the hours of 4am to 8am, or you can sleep inꦍ a bit longer and find them later in the day between 5pm and 7pm.

What's even stranger is that the walking stick doesn't actually do much walking. Insteaꦕd, players will find them clinging to tree trunks. They can be a little tricky to spot, too, as they tend to blend in with their surroundings. Take a careful look at 🔯all the trees you pass, as it's easy to walk by and not even notice this sneaky bug. They'll get spooked if you run past too quickly, so move slowly and swing your net once you're within striking distance.

A Mediocre Find

Despite being tricky to find, the walking stick isn't that valuable of a bug. Each one will sell for 600 bells, making them one of the least valuable bugs added this month. Instead, your time is better spend hunting for many of the beetles that flocked to your island at the begi꧋nning of July. These creatu🔯res often sell for several thousand bells and can be consistently farmed for a massive payday.

It's still worth hunting down a walking stick bug to donate to Blathers, but with a wide window꧒ of availability it shouldn't be much of an issue. Just make sure you hunt in the early evening or early in the morning.
