Punchy is one of the oldest villagers in the franchise and is a fan-favo🍬rite among lovers of cats and blue furniture alike. While Punchy may be as laid back as can be, he's got quite a few secrets to uncover.

Updated on May 29th, 2020 by Connor Smith: It wouldn't be "Animal" Crossing without the lovable and memorable animal villagers that we all know and love, and the various cat villagers have meowed their way into the hearts of countless fans. Of the 26 different cats introduced throughout the series' history, Punchy has made quite a name for himself in terms of popularity.

This list was updated to include four extra facts about the villager, Punchy, as some additional information was discovered after the release of New Horizons, and some extra general info was included as well.

14 🃏 Aries & Blueberries

Now, with the release of New Horizons, there are an absolute ton of animal villagers each with their own unique birthday. There are so maꦅny, in fact, that almost every day of the year has a villager to throw a birthday party with. Punchy's birthday is April 11th, making him the laziest Aries around.

When looking at the calendar, Punchy only shares an April birthday with one other cat villager, Katt. But, the date range for an Aries is March 21st to April 20th, making Punchy the only cat villager in the entire series to be an Aries. We can only wonder how many times Punchy brags abouꦕt this at family reunions.

13 Gifts On T♕he Horizons

Like most other villagers in the series, their gift preferences change a bit from game to game, not too dissimilar to someone's clothing styles or aesthetic shifting over time. In Wild World, Punchy favors nothing but the funkiest of clothing, he loves trendy and dignified furniture in City Folk, and basic, blue items in New Leaf.

His current preferences in New Horizons are most similar to the ones in New Leaf, as any kind of simple🍸 items such as basic tee shirt💙s will be right up his alley.

12 ౠ The Youngest Of♕ Six

Speaking of family reunions, Punchy is stated to be the youngest out of his five other siblings in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. While he may have a lazy personality, one of his skills is to stay awake, possiblꩲy due to his years 𝔉of living with five siblings.

It is never stated how well he gets along with them, but we do know the types of personalities that Punchy can jive ꧒with, and which ones he prefers to stray away from. As a lazy bone, he gets along well with normal, peppy, smug, and uchi personalities. Snooty and jock villagers can give him a hard time understanding his lif☂estyle, but Punchy seems to be an accepting and happy soul regardless.

11 ⭕ A Cat And His 🃏Coffee

While The Roost has yet to appear in New Horizons, all villagers from previous games have a specific ꦰcoffee preference. Punc♍hy's favorite coffee is Kilimanjaro, which is the second most popular choice behind Mocha.

Unlike a lot of other villagers, how🌜ever, Punchy is a bit more hardcore when it comes to enjoying his nice cup of joe, as he prefers no sugar or milk whatsoe💃ver.

10 A Fierce Name For A 🀅♏Fair Feline

By name alone, anyone without prior knowledge of him would assume that Punchy is a jock villager with a huge interest in martial arts. Although, the true meaning behind his name is almost the🍨 exact opposite.

"Punchy" is a word used to describe feeling dizzy or tired from being punched, like when your favorite anime character gets bonked on the head by an oversized mallet. In Japanese, "ビンタ (Binta)" his name shares a similar meaning of "being slapped in the face". His namesake could also play into his appearance, as his purple eyelids🌌 are reminiscent of someone with a really gnarly black eye.

9 ♋ Translation Confu🔯sion

There are a lot of villagers in Animal Crossing. Hence why thꦺere are a few cases of villager name translations that tend to overlap into different languages. Punchy is an example of this, as his name is used in some way for two other villagers.

First off, Punchy's Italian name, Felix, is the same as Filbert's German name. Also, Punchy's German name, Juli🌸an, is the same as the English name of the horse villager, Julian.

8 💫 Not Quite An Original

Western fans may place Punchy as an OG villager, but he actually didn't make his debut until the second version of Doubutsu no Mori in Japan. Doubutsu no Mori or, "Animal Forest" originally release on the N64 as a Japanese exclusive𓆏, and was later ported to the Game💧Cube for other regions in 2001.

Japan's GameCube version of Animal Forest is called Doubutsu no Mori e+ for the e-reader add-on for the GameCube. Punchy is one of two 🅰added villagers in this game, a𝄹long with the cub villager, Cheri.

7 🗹 Lucky Posterboy ꦇ

Even though Punchy was absent from the original Japanese release of Animal Crossing, he seemed to be enough of a cool cat to appear on the bꦏox art of the western release of the GameCube cl൩assic.

There aren't a ton of villagers in the series featured on the box art of Animal Crossing titles, making Punchy pretty lucky. Along with Mitzi, Kiki, and Rosie, they are the only cat villagers in th💃e franchise to appear on the box art of any of the mainline and spinoff titles.

6 🌼 Clothing Preferences 🍸

From Wild World onwards, villagers all have favorite and least-favorit𝓡e clothing types. Punchy is quite the cool cat, so he has a preference for funky clothing, and dislikes flashy, gaudy attire. Gifting Punchy funky clothing items that include a One-Ball Shirt, Big Star Shirt, Dapper Shirt, or Toad Shirt will make this 's day.

Punchy seems to prefer a more minimalistic approach in New Leaf, as he now adores basic clothing and dislikes iconic clothing. It isn't too hard to guess this, but ꩲout of all the co🧸lored gifts that you could give him, he has a soft spot for blue.

5 Punchy's Missed Audition 🍌

This may be surprising to many, but Animal Crossing, or rather Doubutsu no Mori has an anim🍸ated film that released in 2006. This is a feature-length, animated special follows a new villager getting accustomed to her new life with her anthropomorpꦑhic animal friends.

However, just as he didn't make his 🌸appearance in the original title, there's a huge lack of Punchy seen within this film. Instead, Rosie took the place of Punchy as the cat with loads of screentime, but it's safe to assume that he would much rather stay home anyway.
