Praya Dubia Boss Attack Patterns

Explosive orb chasing Krill in Another Crab's Treasure

Phase 1 Attacks

Description

Homing Explosive Orbs

The go-to attack pattern of the Praya Dubia boss is sending homing explosive orbs. The orbs chase Krill and explode at least half a second after getting too close.

The explosion causes small AoE damage, which, in addition to Krill, can also damage and kill crabs in the boss arena.

Crab Summons

The boss summons more than five crabs to chase and assault Krill. After you kill a crab, it becomes a Crab Husk shell for Krill's use.

Horizontal Blade Waves

When the boss lands on the ground instead of flying in the air, it sends two horizontal blade waves. The blades are always sent in the direction of Krill and fired in quick succession.

Vertical Blade Wave

Praya Dubia will occasionally send a vertical blade wave in the direction of Krill instead of two ho𒆙rizon☂tal ones.

This mostly happens if Krill continues to attack the boss at close range when Praya Dubia lands on the ground.

Laser Summon

When the boss's health drops below 50 percent, it will start to summon one laser at a time that moves in a linear direction.

Big Crab Claw Summon

Once Praya Dubia's health falls to 50 percent or below, the boss will call a big crab claw in addition to the smaller crabs. This is a melee unit that hits hard but can be eliminated in a few hits.

Phase 2 Attacks

Description

Morphing Crystals

Praya Dubia summons smaller crystals that morph into sharper ones immediately, damagi🎃ng K🌌rill if he stands over them.

Orb Explosives

Like the first phase, Praya Dubia summons more orb explosives with lethal AoE damage in the second phase. These orbs chase Krill and explode on impact.

Laser Summons

Instead of one laser summon during the first phase, the boss calls down three to four lasers simultaneously in the second phase and fires them in a linear direction toward Krill.

How To Beat Praya Dubia, The Ocean's Agony Boss

  • Recommended Stats: 40 Vitality, 12 Resistance, 55 Attack, 21 MSG, 10 Defense
  • Recommended Shell: Champagne Flute
  • Recommended Stowaways: Lamprey, Barnacle, Sinker++
  • Recommended Adaptations: Royal Wave Level 3

Chitan is one of the NPCs in the game who accompanies Krill in search of treasure. However, the Praya Dubia parasite gets hold of her and controls her during the first phase of the boss fight.

In the second phase, Praya Dubia's hold on Chitan breaks, and the parasite attacks Krill mindlessly.

In phase one, the boss's name is Praya Dubia, the Ocean's Agony. It changes to Praya Dubia, the Final Scream, during the second phase.

Phase One

The homing explosive orbs are very easy to dodge. They have at least a half-second animation before they explode. Since the orbs chase Krill, you can lure it near enemy crabs and then detonate it for collateral damage.

Most boss fights have spare shells lying on the ground for Krill to use. However, Praya Dubia's boss fight does not have these extra shells.

If you need more shells or swap your compromised one with another shell, then you need to kill the crabs. They will leave a Crab Husk that Krill can wear.

Each Crab Husk has 30 defense☂, which is good enough to soak Praya Dubia's att💜acks.

If you have the Scrap Hammer skill unlocked, you can grab the crab husks and attach them with Krill's fork. The attacks unleashed using this skill on Praya Dubia drain health faster, ending th𝄹e first phase quicker than relying on Krill's liꦫght attacks.

Using the Royal Wave adaptation in tandem with the Scrap Hammer skill will significantly deplete the boss's health.

First, the crabs on the ground must be eliminated so that Praya Dubia can move closer to the ground for a while. Since the parasite controls Chitan's body, it also uses this NPC's dual blades.

The horizontal blade waves are deadly, and you must run away from them when you see the boss charging its animation. Dodging both horizontal blade waves is challenging, and blocking them still hurts Krill's health.

Similarly, the boss sometimes switches the above attack with a vertical blade swing. This is a single swing that is much easier to escape or dodge.

Phase Two

After completely depleting the boss's health, a short cutscene plays in which Praya Dubia loses control over the Chitan NPC.

In the second phase, the boss has no physical body to attack, but Praya Dubia's health bar starts depleting over time. You just need to survive long enough until the boss dies.

Praya Dubia second phase start in Another Crab's Treasure

In the second phase, the boss has three attacks, and the parasite fires them all simultaneously. You will find orb explosives chasing you, laser summons targeting Krill, and the morphing crystals growing into sharper and more deadly ones.

The best strategy in the boss's second phase is to keep running. Only spam the dodge button when lasers target Krill. Otherwise, you can eas❀ily escape thღe exploding orbs and crystals.

Blocking the attacks is not recommended, as most of them will deplete Krill's shell health and life. You cannot parry the attacks in the second phase either, so it would be better to sti🍃ck to running and dodging only.

The boss's health depletes, and in about 80 seconds, Praya Dubia dies.

During this time, dodge, run, and keep moving at all times to survive all the attacks and get done with the second pha꧅se ⛦of the fight.

Conserve your health as much as possible, and do not waste your Heartkelp Pods in the first phase. You consume these to replenish Krill's lost health, and they prove invaluable during the second phase when you are bombarded by all the boss's attacks.
