The most recent issue of Japanese publication Nintendo Dream featured an interview with a prominent member of Persona 5 Scramble's developmental team, producer Daisuke Kaneda.

Kaneda kicked off the interview by assuring readers that anyone will be able to enjoy Persona 5 Scramble, whether they've completed Persona 5 or not. He explained that since the release of Persona 5, the franchise has expanded into other ventures, such as anime and manga, so it's "not just limited to the game" anymore. As long as players have 🌳a general understanding of the story, they should be able to follow along in this new journey.

When asked about highlights and other things to look forward to, Kaneda emphasized the "spectacular actions that each of the Phantom Thieves can perform." With the new musou-style fighting approach, a departure from the original game's turn-based combat, players will be able to directly control each Phantom Thief in battle, and trailers for the game have already hinted at some upcoming signature moves for each fighter. Kaneda also talked about the new story for the game, explaining, "The Phantom Thieves have really matured a lot since overcoming past events; it’s been about six months since then, and now there’s a new opportunity for them to grow. I really want players to see for themselves this journey of saving people all over Japan, because it’s quite different from P5."

Kaneda also talked about the brand new characters for the game, Sophia and Zenkichi, explaining how the two new characters served as the basis for the creation of Scramble's story. Beyond "preserv[ing] the feeling of P5," Kaneda also wanted to make sure Scramble's nﷺarrative and worldꦡs fit the designs of the new characters.

Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers will be released in Japan for the Nintendo Switch and Play🅷Stati✱on 4 on February 20. No Western release date has been announced.
