168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Apex Legends Season 12 is finally out in the wild. After weeks of checking leaks and re-reading the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:patch notes, we’ve got a new season on our hands. Crypto mains are a little happier, Caustic mains a little more toxic, and Bangalore mains have a viable character to play in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mad Maggie. At least the new girl actual🐷ly has a tactical ability that’s not completely mitigated by five other Legends.

Something that went a little under the radar, however, was Control mode. Respawn has been pushing it hard, advertising at the forefront of most trailers and tying the LTM in with the game’s latest lore advancements. However, players abandoned Arenas (remember that?) quickly after its release, so you can be forgiven for overlooking another new mode being added to the game.

But Control is actually good. I know my fellow features edit🐓or Eric Switzer already said this, but I want to reiterate that it’s truly great fun. Not ‘ah I’ll play a round to warm-up for the main event’ good as I initially intended it to be, more like ‘oh shit it’s 1am and I’m still dropping into Barometer’ good. I was going to check out the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:new changes to Olympus, I really was - I just got com♌pletely and utterly sucked into C🐟ontrol.

Now I’m not going to try to o🥃verintellectualise why it’s s♌o good, I’m just going to explain what keeps me dropping in for more. Immediately respawning at your base is great - it means you aren’t punished if your teammates decide to w-key into the action at every opportunity. Plus, you have six other teammates, some of whom might actually try to play the objectives.

Which brings me to, well, the objectives. Having three objectives to claim - a home base, an enemy base, and a central contested base - gives you and your squad an effective goal. Simply ‘surviving’ in battle royaꦗle can lead to crossed wires, especially when solo queuing. Do you want to go for kills as quickly as possible, or loot up and head to zone? I like finding a happy medium myself, but with random teammates anything can happen.

With objectives, everyone knows the plan - or at least some semblance of it. Few people defend the base, but neither does anyone on the opposing team, so pushes are quick and fun. There’s also a💙 wide variety of tactics you can employ: one game I sat at the top of the central base in Barometer as Caustic, on the high ground with a Sentinel in hand. I’d trapped all the entrances so would be aware of anyone pushing and have some initial damage on their entry fragger. To be clear, the base itself can be captured on the ground floor, where I wasn’t able to fight or see, so I gave my opponents a fair chance, but I held the spot for a large portion of the game - at least until four enemies pushed me at once, eating the gas damage and shotgunning me in the face, back, balls, and butt. It may have been a little toxic, but it was fun as hell.

My favourite games were using Fuse, despite his kit being subpar for the mode. In a game where you can barely loot - which forces teammates to plaꦬy the objective if they weren’t already - having the ability to stack twice as many grenades is practically pointless, but his Knuckle Cluster comes in clutch in the small areas where the objectives lie. But it doesn’t really matter who you pick - sure a Wraith can phase out to survive a little longer and movement characters are handy, but this is a mode where you can choose your favourites and not worry about letting your teammates dow🌳n.

One of your eight teammates will likely pick Octane so you can pad onto objectives from afar. There will be three Mad Maggie’s on each team for the foreseeable, who provide a speed boost behind their wrecking balls. I was even teamed with a Pathfinder in one game who zipped us to prime locations. The maps are much bigger than those i♎n Arenas, see, so movement is even more importanꦆt to get to an objective first.

It’s not all good - I could never gel with Hammond Labs as a map to be perfectly honest, but would drop into Barometer until the end of my days. Also, sometimes the loadouts on offer are less than ideal. I enjoyed being forced to use off-meta guns,ꦓ or weapons that I would usually shun (looking at you, un-Turbocharged Havoc), but sometimes I just want to spray a Flatty in so💃meone’s face. Late-game Care Packages are great centrepieces for the action, and the new improved Volt might be my favourite weapon this season. New maps for the mode (if there are any) need to be carefully thought out if the mode is to be a success.

Teammates quitting if you’re losing is also a pr🎶oblem, but hardly something the devs can arm against. A penalty for players who quit out would be handy (if it isn’t already implemented - I’m no quitter), but even with a player disadvantage, matches are less of a mismatch than Arenas. Being 33 percent of a team down is much worse than beinꦐg 11 percent down. Heck, we even had two people quit from our team and only narrowly lost. But also, comebacks are always on the cards, and very few deficits are insurmountable. Stay in the game, and Control might be your Istanbul (that’s one for the Liverpool fans).

Ironically, seeing as it’s only available for two weeks, Control has more staying power than Arenas, Apex’s full-time battle royale alternative. It seems like a lot of work to have created Control jus💙t to have it in the game for two weeks, however, so I can see it coming back in the future. I wonder if Respawn is kicking it off as an LTM to make players miss it when it goes, create some forced scarcity and therefore generate hype when it’s unveiled as a permanent fixture? A boy can dream.

I’ve had fun expla😼ining the success of Control to you, but the best way to experience it is to drop in yওourself. Speaking of which, Barometer is back in rotation, so I’ve got to wrap things up sharpish. Play Control. It’s the most fun I’ve had in Apex in years.
