The first of 9 scheduled story missions in the new "Broken Ghost" questline released in Apex Legends today. Anyone who has collected at least ⛄5 treasure packs throughout the last week wꦰill have access to "The First Piece," an introduction to the new PVE mode.

Players can launch The First Piece either solo or in a group from the Quest tab on the𝓡 Season 5 info page. Any character can be playeౠd with the exception of Loba and Revenant (for story reasons) and the mission begins in the tunnel just outside Artillery.

It's an incredibly short experience, all told, but it does mix up the Apex formula significantly. The team moves towards the central buil༒ding in Artillary while l🍎ooting and fighting off the alien hounds introduced in last season's Bloodhound event "The Old Ways."

Once the team makes it to the waypoint, one player can interact with an🦹 artifact scanner and begin a wave assault segment. Once complete, a helicopter will land on one of the adjacent buildings and the team will have just over a minute to extract.

It takes a little under 5 minutes to run the entire scenario. Characters like Pathfind♈er and Octane can make it faster with their zip lines and bounce pad because the hunt ends on a high roof. It isn't particularly challenging but it's a lot of fun to see King's Canyon at night once again (first time since the Halloween 2019 event) and to experience the game as a wave-based shooter. Hopefully, the missions will increase in difficulty and complexity as the season goes on. Perhaps even when they're all finally released in week 10 we'll be able to play them all in 1 continuous playlist.

The release of "The First Piece" coincided with🐼 the start of Week 2 and major server issues for the game. Many players were unable to connect to game servers at all for close to an hour this morning, and even after reconnecting there were some pretty severe lag issuesღ. All of that seems to be resolved now and the game servers are back to normal.

Normal by Season 5 standards that is, because players are still contending with a brutal ghost bullet bug, something🍒 ꧟Respawn has acknowledged and is working on.
