Arcane is in the very good position of not only existing in the League of Legends universe, but also constantly being a part of the wider conversation thaꦑnks to winning awards, pushing the medium forward, and Riot making an effort to keep it in the zeitgeist. The second season isn’t c🉐oming until next year at the earliest, but the media strategy to put it front and centre has already begun, and to see the evolving fandom be a part of that conversation is so welcoming.

Caitlyn might be a prim and proper lady, but Vi is hardened and butch, and to see them form the beginning of a romantic bond was so damn juicy. It&rsqu♏o;s more than a ship at this point, and is already hurtling towards canon whether we’re prepared for it or not. There was something oddly hilarious to see established artists and writers suddenly panic that their filth has been on full display all this time and all it would take for the showrunners to stumble across it is type in the right hashtag. We don’t exist in an echochamber, and I’ve spoken to so many friends in the industry who have laughed about seeing lewd fanart and other interpretations of their characters. So long as it’s all above board there’s nothing wrong with it, but there’s a comical feeling of shame that comes with it being pointed out so bluntly.
While our evident horniness is embarrassing, it’s also supported by the creators, who l💎ikely wouldn’t have filled it with such obvious queer themes if the intention wasn’t for us to morph it into something greater. Groundbreaking experiences like this are always going to take on a life of their own, and if that inevitably devolves into sex, angst, and simping over characters the forces behind it are powerless to stop that trajectory.
