Earlier this week, the team behind Netflix hit Arcane held a answering a number of questions from fans. It was a long sequence of us being put on blast for being horny, dramatic, and passionate lov𓂃ers of a show that has instilled us with a permanent state of brain rot. I am not ashamed, but seeing co-creators Christian Linke and Alex Yee point out how much of a thirsty minefield navigating Twitter can be while taking on board requests to see Vi’s abs or tease us with emotioꦦnal destruction in the coming season was so delicious.

It wasn’t just the co-creators getting in on things either, with a number of crew members answering questions with unexpected honesty. Given that 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Riot Games previously cut a question I asked about queerness in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Star Guardian, this was a nice little sapphic apology for my broken heart. Even though a year has passed since the show’s debut, we’re still obsessed with CaitVi and want to see more from them in the coming season. That’s for sure happening, but will likely be a mixture of worthwhile romance and heartbreaking drama. We might even get a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:sex scene between them, or at the v♕ery least, a smooch. I neeജd something.

I follow a decent number of Arcane fan artists and writers on Twitter, so I saw the more scandalous parts of the AMA before anything else. It all started with someone asking if we’ll ever see Vi’s abs in the second season, and apparently a request has been submitted to make that possible. This means that Vi both has a smoking six-pack, and we might see her topless in the coming episodes. I am a thirsty bitch and cannot hide my clear excitement for this development. Next up was whether the crew was aware of how enthralled the community is, and whether they drew inspiration from art, fics, and all the other fan-creaౠted Arcane content. The answer was a resounding yes, but navigating Arcane Twitter is also a sexually charged minefield. What can I say, we can’t exactly help ourselves.

Arcane

Fandoms can often fade away when a show goes on hiatus, with long gaps between content causing us to lose our imagination for the world and characters. Arcane is in the very good position of not only existing in the League of Legends universe, but also constantly being a part of the wider conversation thaꦑnks to winning awards, pushing the medium forward, and Riot making an effort to keep it in the zeitgeist. The second season isn’t c🉐oming until next year at the earliest, but the media strategy to put it front and centre has already begun, and to see the evolving fandom be a part of that conversation is so welcoming.

I’ve said before that 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Arcane is made for the gays, knowingly queer in its writing and visual presentation with a fresh take on lesbian characters who fall outside the usual archetypes. Caitlyn might be a prim and proper lady, but Vi is hardened and butch, and to see them form the beginning of a romantic bond was so damn juicy. It&rsqu♏o;s more than a ship at this point, and is already hurtling towards canon whether we’re prepared for it or not. There was something oddly hilarious to see established artists and writers suddenly panic that their filth has been on full display all this time and all it would take for the showrunners to stumble across it is type in the right hashtag. We don’t exist in an echochamber, and I’ve spoken to so many friends in the industry who have laughed about seeing lewd fanart and other interpretations of their characters. So long as it’s all above board there’s nothing wrong with it, but there’s a comical feeling of shame that comes with it being pointed out so bluntly.

Arcane

While our evident horniness is embarrassing, it’s also supported by the creators, who l💎ikely wouldn’t have filled it with such obvious queer themes if the intention wasn’t for us to morph it into something greater. Groundbreaking experiences like this are always going to take on a life of their own, and if that inevitably devolves into sex, angst, and simping over characters the forces behind it are powerless to stop that trajectory.

Embracing it is the best possible way forward, and this AMA is clear proof - despite a bit of innocent japing - that the fandom is in very good hands. Arcane is horny, we are horny, and all's right with the world. Now it’s been brought up we better see Vi’s abs.
