Ezio Auditore met Shao Jun in 1524, so Codename Red will likely take place not long after the events of the Assassin's Creed 2 trilogy, bringing us back to the age of Templars and Assassins after a lengthy hiatus.
There have also been leaks claiming the game will feature an African male Samurai protagonist. It's unclear where he fits in, but leakers allege that Codename Red , rather than making you pick one or the other.
