While many a﷽ssumed that mode would let you play as Naoe and Yasuke, it appears that's not "entirely accurate". One of Insider Gaming's sources claimed that there's a "deeper narrative" in the co-op mode that extends beyond the protagonists 🐓that we already know, which could indicate other playable characters.

As exciting as a co-op Assassin's Creed Shadows sounds, I do wonder if many players will be interested in returning a full year after the original gamജe released.
