Ubisoft is launching another virtual historical tour set in the Assassin's Creed series, this time allowing players to explore many Viking-era era locations such as Winchester. Discovery Tour: Viking Age launches October 19, and follows on from the previous educational spin-offs༺ set in Egypt and Greece.

The team has worked alongside historians to make this new addition to the Discovery Tour series as authentic as possible, allowing players to explore the country at their leisure and learn about the Vikings. The deep dive into ninth-century England will be free for anyone who already owns a copy of Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

This isn't just Valhalla with the enemies switched off. You take control of different Viking and Anglo-Saxon characters, playing out their lives. According to Ubisoft, players will "interact with the world and its inhabitants while discovering many details and anecdotes about the time period".

Speaking about the virtual tour, Paul Sapwell of the Hampshire Cultural Trust suggested we can expect more updates📖 such as this in the future. "This is, without doubt, the most exciting and innovative project that we have worked on at the trust since it was first formed," he said. "We are thrilled to see the objects from our collections recreated in Discovery Tour: Viking Age and are looking forward to working with Ubisoft and Sugar Creative over the coming months as we move into the next phase of our partnership”.

Anyone who doesn't own Vahalla but wants to give this tour a go can pick it up for £16.99 via Ubisoft Connect and Epic Games Store. It will launch across Xbox and PlayStation consoles in 2022.
