In , one of your main goals is to track down and kill each member of the Order of the Ancients. They are the main predecessors to the Templar Order and are doing devious things around England. The group's main leader is the Grand Maegester who is known only as The Father.
As the Grand Maegester in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla is the leader of a deadly secret society, finding them is tough and something that takes almost the whole game to do. This is how you can track them down and eventually defeat The Father.
Updated on June 5, 2023, by Axel Bosso: Who's The Father? This is a question that you might have if you're jumping into Assassin's Creed Valhalla in 2023. Don't worry, we have you covered, and we updated this guide to keep it fresh and help you learn who the Father really is.
How To Find Out Who The Grand Maegester Is
To uncover the identity of the Grand Maegester, you have to do the daunting task of finding and eliminating every member of the Order of the Ancients. This includes every warden of every Order branch in the game as well as each 𒐪zealot who serves as mini-bo꧃sses.
If you are having trouble finding each member's location, here is a list of guides that shows you how you can find all the members to help the search go a bit quicker:
Once you finish off the leader of each respective branch (the zealots don't have a leader), you will obtain a clue that will help yo🐈u to narrow down who the Grand Maegest🐓er and Father is, as well as their location.
There are six clues total but from killing all the members, you will only be able to obtain five of them, 🅷as the sixth is saved♎ for later. The hints you will get go as follows:
- The Father is a Saxon (found by killing Gorm).
- The Father gives commands to Fulke (found by killing The Instrument).
- The Father holds a position of power (found by killing The Vice).
- The Father is highly educated (found by killing The Lyre).
- The Father must answer to someone above him (found by killing The Rake).
Where Is The Grand Maegester
Once you finally end the life of the last order member, Hytham will want to talk to you at the Hidden Ones Bureau in Ravensthorpe. When you get there he'll tell you that his anonymous informant, the Poor Fellow-Soldier that has been helping you throughout the game, has tracked down the location of the Grand Maegester. They can be found in the village of Athelnay in Hamtunscire.
Head there and you will run into none other than King Aelfred, who is now living seemingly living a quiet life as a peasant. Talk to him and he will reveal that he was Hytham's informant, and when Eivor asks him about whom the Grand Maegester is, he will toss them an Order of the Ancients medallion. This is the sixth clue that reveals that Aelfred was also the Father and Grand Maegester.
He reveals to Eivor that he wanted to eliminate the Order because of their ignorance towards God and Christ which are two things he has extreme faith in. As it turns out, you don't have to defeat the Grand Maegester in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. Just talking to Aelfred will count as an elimination, and you are finally finishing off the𒀰 Order of the Ancients.
But since you can't kill him, this will eventually pave the way for the Templar Order to be born.
