With the release of the trailer for the upcoming 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, the internet has been in an uproar.♛ People love Vikings, so a game set in the Viking Age will have widespread appeal. The inclusion of has also generated some talk online, as has the decision to set the game during the Viking invasion of England.
Given the setting, there are a lot of possibilities for great real-life people who could appear as characters. The lives of warriors, leaders, and꧟ academics have bꦉeen preserved from .
10 Ivar🔜r the Boneless
Ivarr was one of three brothers who led the Great Heathen Army of Danes that invaded England. Reportedly the son of the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:semi-legendary Vik༒ing hero Ragnar Lothbrok, Ivarr carved his na🅘me in history with the bloody edge of his blade.
The other two brothers who joined in the invasion, Halfdan, and Ubba, wo💟uld also make great additions to the game (as would the many brothers who made their name elsewhere), but with a name like "the Boneless," Ivarr could be a seriously character. He is also believed to be the same figure as the Viking war-leader who conquered much of Ireland, Im🧔ar, who founded the dynasty of kings known as Ui Imar.
9 Alfred the Great 💟
Alfred is the♔ only king in English history to earn the name "the Great." A pale sickly man, he spent his youth in drunken lechery, then became an increasingly devout Christian later in life.
Despite being frail, he to𒐪 stop the invasion of Danes descending on his kingdom from the north. His political cunning and tactical brilliance kept the southernmost provinces of England from becoming colonized by the Vikings. ꦺIt looks like he is the lord overseeing the battle in the trailer.
8 🦩 Aethelflaed
Alfred's daughter is one of the great women in all of English his🌟tory. After marrying the King of Mercia (a kingdom which bordered her father's kingdom of Wessex), she famously produced no heirs, thus allowing the kings of Wessex to gain a legitimate claim to inherit Mercia after she and her husband passed without producing any royal children.
Beyond her role as a queen, sources indicate that Aethelflaed was every bit as cunning and well-read as her father, being a n🐓atural leader possessed of incredible intelligence. The Vikings had shieldmaidens fighting in their ranks, but the English had Aethelflaed as a leader.
7 Ealhswith
Ealhswith is the wife of Alfred the Great. Sourcꦉes have not left a lot of information on her when compared to her husband and children♋, but as a powerful woman in a seat of power, the game has a chance to flesh her out.
Bernard Cornwell's Saxon Stories (which have been adapted into The Last Kingdom TV series) show her as shrewish, devout, and judgmental. ♑Hopefully, the game wඣill make her more sympathetic.
6 Guthrum
Another of the leaders of the Great Heathen Army, Guthrum was a King of the Danes. Under his leadership, the Danes imposed what would be known as the Danelaw upon the English, a perꦆiod of time in which northern England was ruled by the Danes.
Later in life, Guthrum converted to Christianity, taking the name Aethelstan. His transformation would be an interesting onꦍe to watch, e﷽specially when he learns that his conversion would likely deny him entry to Valhalla.
5 ꧙ ✃ Charles the Fat
Charles the Fat was the grandson of Charlemagne and the very last Carolingian king to preside over the Carolingian Empire. He lost a lot of territory to the Vikings, while his own subjects revolted against his rule𝔍.
Like 🥃Alfred the Great, he was also a sickly Christian king. Unlike Alfred, he did not earn a title like "the Great." Considering the name he got, it w🔯ould be interesting to contrast his rule with the more effective leadership of Alfred.
4 🍰 Harald Fairhair
The famous king who unified all of Norway, Harald Fairhair would have been a warrior approaching the end of his prime during the events of the game. He famously vowed to cut and comb his hair only after he became the only man to claim the title of king Norway. After many wars, he ඣwas successful, and his hair was luxuriant.
Another interesting detail would be to include his son, Eirikꦉ Bloodaxe, as a 🐬young boy, hinting at the man that Eirik would grow into.
3 Asser
Many of the events of this time period were recorded in The Life of King Alfred, a chronicle of Alfred the Great'൲s life and deeds which was written by the monk Asser.
This Welsh monk was personally invited by Alfred to join the royal court of Wessex. He worked as a translator, but it iꦡs a record of Alfred's life that 🥂makes him so interesting.
2 Kveldulf Bjalfa🥃son 🥃
Kveldulf's name literally means "Evening Wolf," as it was rumored that this badass warrior was a shapeshifting werewolf or more likely one of the ulfhednar wolf-warriors (he has been described as both). He was an enemy of King Harald Fairhair and some of his deeds are recorded in the epic Egil's Saga.
Kveldulf was not the only great warrior in his family. His son Sꦐkallagrim and his grandson Egill Skallagrimsson were both famed berserkers and poets.
1 🌃 Ottar of Halogaland
Ottar (wh🔯ose name is also spelled Ohthere) was a Norse sailor and explorer who sailed a𒐪round the top of Norway and is believed to have gone as far as the White Sea in northern Russia--possibly being the first person ever to make this journey. He also described his travels to major Viking trading ports like Hedeby and Kaupang.
In an age of warriors an𒁏d raiders, his daring as an explorer is just as valorous. His deeds were recorded i🌺n King Alfred's court.
