For the last few months, rumours have been swirling that PlayStation would soon be havi🎉ng a showcase o𓃲f some kind to reveal what it's got in store for the next few years. It seems we'll be waiting a while for that to come to pass, though, as we've just had a new State of Play instead of a dedicated PlayStation Showcase.

Astro’s Play𒅌room Is Still The Best ꦚPS5 Exclusive
Three year🐈s later and this freebi🎉e still rules the roost.
Even if we didn't get a full PlayStation Showcase like some were hoping, we did get one of the best announcementsꩵ to come from PlayStation for some time - Astro Bot is getting a new game. , confusingly titled Astro Bot, which will be releasing on September 6.
Astro Bot Is Getting A Fully-Fledged Sequel
The trailer showed Astro (along with a few animal robot companions) going through several new worlds, each with bosses and unique gameplay mechanics like froggy boxing gloves that turn into grappling hook hands. We also got to see plenty of cameos from PlayStation characters, including Kratos, Atreus, and Parappa the Rapper. It's as glorious as it sounds.
The PlayStation characters also seem to play a bigger role this time around, as they're seen actually interacting with Astro Bot instead of just being in the background as easter eggs.
, such as the fact that it'll be "super-sized" and include over 80 levels across six galaxies. Astro will also have 15 different abilities, a few of which we saw in the trailer, which will all utilise the Dualsense in unique ways.
In this brand-new game, you will explore 6 galaxies and over 80 levels in search of Astro’s scattered crew. Hold on tight to your Dua🦹l Speeder and dive down to each unique planet, from lush forests, sandy beaches, hot volcanoes to more surprising locations such as a gigantic hourglass or the canopy of a singing tree!
As great as it is to finally see a new Astro Bot, the loveable little guy's return doesn't come as much of a surprise. It's been rumoured for some time now that Team Asobi was working on a new Astro Bot game and that it likely wouldn't be for PS VR, unlike the first game in the series. Those rumours also suggested that it was a 3D platformer, something we know now to be true.
Although I'm sure that a lot of PlayStation fans aren't going to be too impressed with the State of Play since it didn't feature the likes of , , or whatever Naughty Dog is working on, Astro Bot alone has made it a banger of a show. I will hear no complaints about the best PS5 game getting a sequel, thank you.

PlayStation's VR 2 PC Adapter Is Coming Way Too Late
An adapter would finally make the expensive headset useful, but most VR enthusiasts have likely already invested elܫsewhere.
