The game first started on April 9th. Every day at 4:00 pm Leila Sales posts the beginning of the next scene for the sto♉ry “Ada and the Lost Horizon” to her and pages. Children and families are given 24 hours to fulfill prompts after they are posted. To play, you have to answer the prompt and post your work to social media with the hashtag #AdaAndTheLostHorizon. Players who post their solution to Instagram or Twitter are entered to be chosen as the “cannon” of the story. The winner's work is included in the text and lead to the clue for the nextﷺ day.
The story begins with the protagonist Ada waking up and checking on her younger brother, Teddy. When she goes to his room, she 🎃finds that Teddy is missing. On the first day of the project, players were asked to come up with a ransom note for Ada to find on her fridge.
This game has let kids explore with their imagination and given them some much-needed activities away from screens. Some ki𓄧ds created big sculptures or towers with their toys, hand wrote their ideas, crafted their visions out of cardboard, and countless other mediums.
This project was created in an effort to help keep kids happy, occupied, and give parents a break. Caregivers of children are really overwhelmed♔ with schools shut down. Just like everyone, guardians have to figure out how to transition to working from home or cope with losing work, and have the added challenge of having the role of full-time educator thrust upon them. It is an overwhelming time for parents and students.
