Sometimes, you see a game that looks like it was plucked from your very mind and made real. I’m in love with the combat and traversal of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Atlas Fallen, a game where you sand surf through a vast desert and t♏urn giant monsters into crystal, then 𒊎shatter them with a final swing of your sand hammer. The RPG elements I could take or leave, though.

The world of Atlas Fallen is ancient and in decay, filled to the brim with deadly creatures that stalk the sands. As an Egyptian, I like big, old, sandy things - it’s in my DNA. So the prospect of riding the dunes in a huge sand bowl while beating the shit out of massive creatures has me very excited. The Gamescom gameplay preview looked like all the best parts of Monster Hunter but with the addi♊tion of shapeshifting weapons, meaning you won’t be bound to one tool tꦺo kill beasties with.

Combat is fast, aggressive, infused with magical combos and weapon strikes. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Speed is the name of the game, as continued pr👍essure and parries fill your momentum bar which you can expend on devastating finishing moves. Atlas Fallen is putting the action in action-RPG.

Parrying enemies turns them into crystal, making them susceptible to shattering attacks and giving you a moment of breathing room. Like 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Monster Hunter, you can focus on destroying specific body parts to help you take down these ancient foes. Alsꦑo like Monster Hunter, you can be joined by a ♉friend. The lower level player will retain all of their co-op progression, which isn’t perfect but it’s better than co-op just being pointless.

However, where Atlas Fallen loses me is the density of its RPG systems. Don’t get me wrong, I like perks and skill trees in moderation, but Atlas Fallen looks to contain mountains of menus to sift through. If the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:God of War style of talismans that increase armour by 23 percen♐t and charged attack damage by 13 percent aren’t your ja🌞m, Atlas Fallen looks like it could get frustratingly fiddly.

Still, I feel like most non-competitive RPGs allow players to mostly ign🤡ore that sort of stuff with minimal punishment. If I have to stick so🍨mething in a slot to make the numbers bigger every now and then, it’s a small sacrifice in order to wail on The Old Gods of this shattered world.

The preview mostly focused on the sandy environmꦐents Atlas Fallen has to offer, but I was told there will be several regions with different terrain, including snowy and urban, 🅘so there should be plenty to explore.

We need more games like Atlas Fallen. Double-A titles that just look fun to play. Not everything needs to be a 100-hour slog or a breakout indie. Sometimes I just want to play in the sand and beat things up with my friends. I hope the RPG elements aren’t as confusing and dense as they appear in the preview. If they are, I at least hope they can be comfortably ignored. I haven’t been this excited to explore a game’s world in a long time - I just hope the menus aren't as dry as a desert.
