Sometimes, the barriers aren't actually barriers at all, but are just locked doors. If a door just says Door with a lock, that usually means it needs a power switch. You will see an orange shield above it, or some metal wiring. Follow this wiring to a gold button (which is sometimes through a crack in a wall). The hardest barrier is the one that glows pink - this may be a specific pink panel over an entrance, or may be rocks that glow with eerie pink essence. You will need to recruit Yatzli in Shatterscarp and then use her Dispel Illusion ability to move the rocks or drop the barrier.
