Warner Brothers' first dedicated E3 press conference focused exclusively on ♏Back 4 Blood, the upcoming co-op shooter from Turtle Rock Studios, the makers of Left 4 Dead.

The 10-mi💃nute presentation was a deep dive into Swarm Mode, Back 4 Blood's PvP game mode that was first revealed during the Xbox/Bethesda press conference earlier today. Similar to Versus mode from Left 4 Dead, Swarm Mode pits a team of humans against a team of zombies in 4v4 matches.

The four human players (called cleaners) must work together to survive as long as possible, while the elite zom🎐bies (called ridden) are controlled by actual players. Their objective is to surprise the human players with attacks, separate them, and kill them as fast as possible. The human team must try to s﷽urvive for as long as possible. When they're eventually defeated, the teams switch sides and the other team will try to survive longer. Games are played best of three.

As rounds progress, 🅰the swarm moves in, increasing the ridden threat while simultaneously limiting the playable space. Additionally, the ridden players will have nine types of monsters to select from in order to counter the cleaner players. As the rounds progress, the ridden players collect pointsꦏ that can be spent to purchase team-wide new mutations that will give the ridden an edge against the cleaners. These upgrades persist between rounds.

Some💞 of the highlighted ridden in the presentation included the exploder, which can be used to punish teams of cleaners that group up, as the Tall Boy, which is a large monster that can deal massive single target damage.

Finally, the livestream walked players through some of the weapon and customization options 🐬available in Swarm Mode. Each cleaner has their own🍸 weapon, which can be upgraded during each round.
