The Xbox Games Showcase brought with it some pretty large 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:announcements from big-name franchises that many fans have been clamoring for. While the recent smattering of high-budget shooters are fuꦦn for a broad demographic of gamers, sometimes people need a light-hearted break from their bleak and gritty worlds. Enter a new adventure from the gaming industry legend himself, Yuji Naka.

During the showcase pre-show, there was a small trailer featuring Yuji Naka and Naoto Ohshima, who revealed their excitement over a new project with Square Enix. Those unfamiliar with Yuji Naka and Naoto Ohshima may be familiar with their work, as Naka was the former head of Sonic Team, and Ohshima was the artist that designed Sonic (along with numerous other classic titles). The duo helped with fan-favorite entries like Nights Into Dreams and Sonic Adventure. Naka also gave us Shadow The Hedgehog – need I say more?

Balan Wonderworld is the  from Yuji Naka's team that will give fans a chance to explore another colorful 3D world. The game's characters have access to numerous costumes that grant players unique abilities, serving as fun new ways to tackle any puzzle or enemy in their path. From dressing like a cutཧe praying mantis to an octopus, the charm of this game is palpable. The gameplay shown is early progress footage, but showcases large, open-level designs that seem filled to the brim with activities to keep players engaged.

A lot of the gameplay showcased feels reminiscent of Nights Into Dreams and Billy Hatcher, from the cute character designs to the music that played throughout. In fact, Balan Wonderworld already feels like a big love letter to fans of Nights and 90s era SEGA platformers. Yuji Naka and Square Enix seem to be going all-in with this new title because during the livestream, Naka  that his new development team is called Balan Company. The name of this new studio hints at the potential for making Balan Wonderworld into a new franchise, or at least for creating more games that capture the nostalgia of early 90s platformers. Either way, we can't wait to see more of Balan Wonderworld when the game releases next year.
