We've re-vamped this guide to bring you more information on how to defeat the bosses in the Mourning Frost questline, as well as some extra tips and tricks to help you as you journey through the Underdark.

What Is The Mourning Frost

Baldur's Gate 3: The Mourning Frost Quarterstaff in the 'examine' menu.

The Mourning Frost is a quarterstaff that grants you the ability to cast the cantrip.

In close combat, the staff can be used to topple your opponent and deal a standard 1d6 bludgeoning damage (upgraded to 1d8 when wielding the staff with two hands). Additionally, the Mourning Frost inflicts an extra 1d4 cold damage.

The synergy of ice spells mak🤡es this quarters༺taff shine with an icy sheen.

  • The Heart of Ice effect grants you an extra point of cold damage when striking your foes with ice spells that inflict cold damage.
  • The Insidious Cold effect allows you to inflict the Chilled status effect on your opponent.

The Chilled effect hinders the struck foe with vulnerability to cold damage but at the cost of increased fire resistance. Avoid using spells and attacks that inflict fire damage while using the Mourning Frost quarterstaff.

The Mourning Staff is a must-have for any aspiring Cyromancers who want to get the most out of their frost spells. Here are a few spell suggestions that pair well with the Mourning Frost:

  • - Cantrip.
  • - Level three spell.
  • - Level four spell.
  • - Level five spell.
  • - Level 6 spell.
  • - Level 6 spell.

You can reach up to level seven in Act One.

Where To Find The Mourning Frost Components

Baldur's Gate 3: An image of how to combine the Mourning Frost Components

To craft the Mourning Frost, you must retrieve the following components from the Underdark:

  • Icy Helve: (X:114, Y:252) - Dropped by Dhourn after defeating the Spectator.
  • Icy Crystal: (X:51, Y:149) - Dropped by Filro the Forgotten, found near the Sussur Tree and a pack of Hook Horrors.
  • Icy Metal: (X:50, Y:75) - The Icy Metal is looted from the dead drow in the Myconid Colony vault.

Once you have all three Mourning Frost components, you can combine them in your inventory to craft the staff.

To combine the Mourning Frost components, open your inventory and select one of the items. It doesn't matter which one. In the drop-down menu, there will be an option that says 'Combine'.

Selecting combine will open the combination screen in which you can place the components in any order. Once you have inputted all three components, you are ready to hit the combine button.

You must have all three components in your player's inventory to combine them.

How To Get The Icy Helve

Baldur's Gate 3: The player party battles The Spectator and Dhourn.

Killing the Spectator is no easy task, and we highly recommend you rest before fighting it.

Found by walking through the broken window of the Selunite Outpost near the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Shattered Sanctum's entrance to the Underdark, the Spectator will catch your party off guard and gain initiative over your surprised team.

The Spectator is a tough battle if you're not prepared, as it has a range of high-damage ray attacks that will impede your damage output. You will have to set up buffs and be🌳 ready to hཧelp your fallen companions while whittling down the enemy's health.

The , , , and Warding Bond spells will increase your resistance to the Spectator's attacks. Therefore, it's recommended to bring a cleric like Shadowheart along with you in this fight.

Warding Bond is a level two Abjuration spell that gives an ally resistance to all damage types, and a +1 to Armor Class and Saving Throws. However, every time the warded al༺ly takes damage, the spellcaster will take that damage instead.

In each round of the fight, the Spectator will free the petrified statues to fight for it. If you do not want to kill the drow, you can try to free them from the Spectator's mind control. Sometimes, shoving an opponent or ally will❀ break them out of the spell, but it may also down them.

If you want to use the environment to your advantage, try casting fire spells at the Torchstalk mushrooms in the area or shoving your opponents into them. Setting off the Torchstalks is a g♕ood way to inflict widespread damage.

Once you kill the Spectator, Dhourn, one of the drow searching for the Adamantine Forge, will thank you for saving him; however, he will likely attack you afterward, allowing you to loot the Icy Helve from his corpse.

If you are playing as a drow, you will have special dialogue choices when speaking to Dhourn. A drow female, for instance, can convince (read: threaten) Dhourn into handing over his memory shard and giving iꦏnformation about the Ada🐻mantine Forge.

If Dhourn or the other drow are not un-petrified by the Spectator during the fight, you can use Basilisk Oil to cure them, at which point you will be able to speak to, pick-pocket, or kill them. You cannot pickpocket petrified people.

You can also sneak into the battle area and use the Basilisk oil on Dhourn before the fight. He'll become un-petrified and fight for you, but you will still wake the Spectator. Stealthing into the fight, however, will eliminate the Spectato𒆙r's ambush advantage.

How To Get The Icy Crystal

Baldur's Gate 3: The party battles Hook Horrors and Filro The Forgotten.

You will fight Filro the Forgotten 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:during the Adamantine Forge quest, along with a pack of Hook Horrors.

Filro will have an elevation advantage over you when you begin the fight. We suggest that you take out one Hook Horror at a time♋ and be careful not to aggro more Hook Horrors into the fight.

You can blast a Hook Horror from the Sussur Tree branches using a spell with a knockback effect. Eldritch Blast is ideal due to its range.

Since you have access to the Sussur Tree's branches, try to climb or teleport up to a higher elevation and gain the high-ground advantage on the hook horrors.

If you have a character who can cast or command enemies to fight for you, you can turn the Hook Horrors into allies for the duration of your effect. Try reanimating a Hook Horror corpse, too. If you are successful, you'll have a beefy ally at your dis♔posal.

If you have Sovereign Glut in your party, you can also use his ability, Animating Spores to resurrect a Hook Ho♈rr♛or corpse and have it fight on your side.

Once the battle is over, you can loot the Icy Crystal from Filro's corpse.

How To Get The Icy Metal

Baldur's Gate 3: The player loots a dead drow for the Icy Metal.

The Icy Metal is the final piece to complete the Mourning Frost quarterstaff. To obtain it, you will need to befriend the Myconids in the Myconid Colony to unlock the Myconid Colony Vault.

To do this, speak to the Sovereign, the leader of the Myconids. The Sovereign will ask you to wipe out the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:duergar in the Decrepit Village, followed by 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Nere, a True Soul drow found across the lake. You only need to kill the duergar leader to unlock the vault.

Before you kill the duergar in the Decrepit Village, talk to Thulla the gnome in the Myconid colony. Defeating the village duergar will also give you the 'Duergar Antidote' which you need to close out part of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Thulla's quest.

When you approach the duergar, they will ambush you. If you want to get a jump on them, try sneaking into the Decrepit Village. You can also split your party and position them in areas of high ground and have them stealth into the fight with range atta♕cks gradualﷺly.

Use height to your advantage, but be wary of standing too close to an edge. There are three duergar already in high-ground positions. If you manage to sneak up on them, you can knock them over the edge, but if you're not careful, they can do the same ♚to you.

Knocking your opponents off of the village ledges is the best way to whittle away at their health and win the fight.💦

Gekh Coal, the duergar leader will become invisible at some point during the fight, so it's worth it to have a character in your party who can see invisibility or to use spells that w💜iꦉll uncover him when cast.

Coming up behind Lurgan will eliminate the ambush effects, but if you do not pass the passive perception check, it will also force you into the fight anyway.

When you've defeated the duergar, return to the vault next to Derryth Bonecloaks's camp in the colony. It will onlyꦏ open once you've compl൲eted the prerequisite objectives.
