The ways you can explore and complete quests around the Sword Coast are myriad, and the Find The Mushroom Picker quest is no different. We've updated this guide to bring you even more ways to save the Mushroom Picker and get some new loot while you're at it.

Where To Find Baelen The Mushroom Picker

The Find the Mushroom Picker quest is a short quest but will require finesse in your maneuvering and teleportation skills. You'll find Baelen and the chamber of Bibberbangs in the Sussur Tree area by climbing down the knotted roots (X:10, Y:104). It's located southwest of the Myconid Colony.

Rescuing Baelen With Teleportation Or Flying

You can save Baelen⛄ with a teleportation spell or scro♛ll:

These spells and scrolls can all be used to save Baelen and harvest the Noblestalk without disturbing the Bibberbangs.

To rescue Baelen, you must navigate to his pack found south of the torch. We suggest using your teleportation spell or scroll of choice and teleporting onto the rocks as far away from the Bibberbangs as possible. Bibberbangs will puff up when they are about to explode.

Keep an eye on your character's silhouette when preparing your spell, as this highlights where your character will cast the spell from. Get too close to the Bibberbangs, and Baelen will be toasted.

Once you reach Baelen's Pack, loot the Misty Step scrolls. Next, either teleport to Baelen and give him the scroll or throw the Misty Step scroll onto the ground next to him. Both o♍ptions allow him to escape.

Now, you can teleport away from the Bibberbangs and tal🐻k to Baelen to get some information on how he got into his predicament.

Some races, like the Githyanki, already know Misty Step. If you are playing as a Githyanki, you can learn Misty Step from the get-go. Likewise, you can always have Lae-zel save the Mushroom Picker if necessary.

There are also several equipment items that grant you or your party teleportation spells.

Here are a few items you can find and use to cast Misty Step to get to Baelen or teleport him to safety:

There are also some Act Two and Act Three equipment items that grant Misty St🧜ep, like the Boots of Very Fast Blinking, that you can win from the Djinni Akabi, but you won't be able to travel back to Act One after reaching certain pointꦿs in the game.

Rescuing Baelen Using The Side Ledge

Sometimes, you only have enough juice in you to teleport once, and it can get a little complicated (and pricey) to cast a teleportation spell more than once. Luckily, there's a non-magical way to maneuveꦿr through the Bibberbangs without triggering them.

If you're able to get the scroll in Baelen's pack from a distance, or you have a Misty Step scroll to give him, there is a non-magical way to get to Baelen's location, or even the location of hisဣ 🐭pack.

Around the outskirts of the Bibberbang field, there is a series of ledges that you can use to hop to Baelen or his pack's location.

Don't bring your companions or any summoned familiars with you into the Bibberbang field. They may trigger the mushrooms accidentally.

The ledges hug the left wall of the Bibberbang cavern and can be jumped to easily. There's a ledge right above where Baelen's pack and torch are lying on the ground, and there's another ledge right above Baelen's location. You can use either of tไhese ledges to jump down to Balen or his pack.

What's more, if you don't feel like saving Baelen, you can ignore him entirely and follow the ledge to the coveted Noblestalk mushroom. The ledges terminate at the Noblestalk's location.

Even if you decide not to use the ledge to get to Baelen, the ledge is worth exploring. On one of the ledges in the cavern, there is a skeleton for you to loot. On the Skeleton's body is the Explorer's Ring, which grants you +1 to both Survival and Nature.

Rescuing Baelen With Mage Hand

If you don't have any teleport spells at the ready, you could use Mage Hand to save Baelen without liftiꦬng a finger.

You can use Mage Hand to throw Baelen's Pack to him. He will🐲 then pick up the pack and then use a scroll of Misty Step to teleport to you.

Return to Derryth to earn the as a reward. Derryth will explain that they must harvest Noblestalk before they can leave the Underdark. Although the Find the Mushroom Picker quest will now be complete, you can still help Derryth and Baelen obtain Noblestalk.

What Can You Do With Noblestalk

Noblestalk can be used in a number of interesting wa💖ys:

• Give to Shadowheart - Allowing her to recover fragments of her memories and gain a lead to her past in Baldur's Gate.
• Give to Derryth - If you give the Noblestalk to Derryth, she will invite you to Bonecloak's shop in Baldur's Gate.
• Give to Baelen - to restore his memories and mind. Derryth will be angry at you for this as Baelen was a drunk prior to losing his mind and spent most of Derryth's money on drink.
• Give to Karlach - to inspire her.

How To Obtain The Noblestalk

Using either the Mage Hand to throw the torch at the wall or an ice or water spell to extinguish the torch flame is the safest method to acquire the Noblestalk. You can then use Mage Hand to throw the Noblestalk to one of your party members. Or you can use an Elixir of Poison Resistance to run up to it and grab it.

Here is a list of possible methods for extinguishing Baelen's torch safely:

• Use water grenades like throwable Water Carafes or Water Bottles to extinguish the torch. Make sure that the radius of your throw won't hit a Bibberbang mushroom.
• Cast on the torch.
• Turn the area under the torch to an ice surface.

Attempting to pick up the Noblestalk with Mage Hand will consume it. In addition, throwing the Noblestalk on the ground will cause it to vanish.
