How To Pull The Sword From The Stone: Phalar Aluve
There are a few ways to go about taking the sword from the stone, but you get a few benefits from your race and class if you play your cards right.
- Drows will be able to read the inscription on the blade.
- If you are a Cleric of Eilistraee, you will automatically be able to take the blade without rolling anything at all. You will also receive unique dialogue.
If you are neither a Drow nor a Cleric of Eilistraee, you won't receive any special options. Therefore, you'll only have two options:
- Pull the blade out with brute Strength (DC 15).
- Consider the appropriate ritual with a Religion check (DC 15).
As the DCs on this blade are quite high, you'll need a few bo꧋ons ♋to be able to pull the sword out, some luck, or persistence with Inspiration rerolls.
If your Player Origin is not good with either Strength or Intelligence, Lae'zel and Karlach are good candidates for pulling the sword out, while Gale and♚ Shadowheart tend to do ꦿokay with Intelligence (Religion) checks.
Once the Phalar Aluve is out, it is yours to keep. It is a +1 with the following traits:
Phalar Aluve (Uncommon Magic Weapon) - Gain +1 to hit and +1 to Performance.
Gain𝓡 P🅘halar Aluve: Melody - this allows you to use Shriek (giving enemies within six meters penalty to Charisma, Wisdom, and Intelligence Saving Throws and makes them take an extra 1-4 Thunder damage for five turns) or Sing (which gives allies within six meters a 1d4 bonus to Attack Rolls and Charisma, Wisdom, and Intelligence Saving Throws for five turns).
Deal 1d10 + Strength modifier + 1 Slashing damage when Two-handed; 1d8 +꧃ Strength modifier ⛎+ 1 when One-handed.
While it is not as powerful as weapons like the , it's a nice sword to have and comes with a special glowing animation with its runes. It is entirely unique and considered a holy weapon, fetching a hefty sum of money if chosen to sell to a vendor (though you shouldn't because Rule-Of-Cool, the sword is awesome).
