Dark Urge Is Way More Interesting Than A Silent Protagonist

Over on the Baldur's Gateꦅ 3 Subreddit, posed the question to their fellow fans, asking which between Durge and Tav is the better playthrough. At a brief glance, most of the comments side with Durge, saying that their playthrough is more interesting as there's a loose backstory around it, whereas you need to make your own decisions with Tav.

While making your own decisions is what Baldur's Gate 3 is all about, many players felt ba🍌d making the "evil" choices as Tav, opting for a good-guy playthrꦆough. However, with Durge you don't necessarily feel bad for making the evil choice.

Additionally, some comments🔴 noted that there are two sides to playing Durge as well – resisting and giving in to the urge – each with its own story paths and entertainment value. Also, for long-time fans of the series, the Durge p🅘laythrough sort of continues where the previous game left off.

"Dark Urge every time. There’s very little you can get out of Tav that you can’t get out of Durge, and conversely you get so much from being Durge that you miss out on in a Tav playthrough," said one comment. "Contrary to what most people seem to assume, you can play Durge however you want. You don’t🦹 have to be evil, you don’t have to be bloodthirsty, you don’t even have to be a White Dragonborn. You don’t have to kill anyone (with one important early exception).

It seems the main reason players prefer Durge is due to the sheer amount of con𝕴tent you miss if you're doing a Tav playthrough. However, another way to look🦩 at it is that these varying playthroughs just give you more reasons to replay a very replayable game.

So replayable, in fact, that scalpers have been trying to sell the Collector's Edition for nearly $3,700. Larian's director of publishing, M𝕴ichael Douse took to Twitter to call them out, saying, "I understand how commodity works, but this CE isn’t a commodity it’s de🗹signed to make someone happy, not rich. If you’re buying it to trade, all you’re doing is making someone sad."
