True to Haarlep's nature, it reads, "1,000 lovers in one body" from left to right. But in-game, we only see two forms, Raphael and the Archduchess. There are a whole other 998 looks in their extensive catalog, but I wouldn't be too quick to give in to the temptation. A night with Haarlep usually means death.
When you meet Haarlep, they offer to play a game of desire. Refuse and you'll be thrown into a fight. However, if you choose to give in to Haarlep completely... you die. For Tav, it's game over and back to the last save. For companions, it's permanent death, meaning there's no way to resurrect them. The aim is to survive the encounter and find the Orphic Hammer, but you can also let go of your body which results in Haarlep sleeping around while in the shape of Tav.
Unfortunately, if they do take your shape, the Infernal doesn't change to 1,001. Granted, the writing probably isn't meant to be taken that literally, acting more as a marketing slogan than anything else. As for why we meet them in the form of Raphael, that's because Raphael likes to pop by and sleep with himself (Haarlep is even an anagram of his name). Just normal devil things.
1,000 potential lovers and Raphael only wants himself. Or, if he's feeling spicy, himself with boobs. There's just no creativity.
It's not the only Infernal fans have translated since launch. Karlach is also covered in the language. Her horns read, "My champion, the Demonsbane. My blood is her strength!" A little more metal than what is essentially a slogan.
Then there's the Infernal on 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Astarion's back which during early access🐻 in 2021. It roughly means, "This soul swears no oath by fire. Nor words does he speak. In the 𒀰realm of death."
If you've followed Astarion's questline, that translation holds far more significance two years later. Haarlep's? About what you'd expect.
