It does this by altering a few things with the base game, most notably the amount of experience that you get from completing quests and combat. You'll earn double the amount you usually would, essentially making sure that you're ridiculously overlevelled for whichever area you find yourself in so you're not completely obliterated by a random pack of enemies.

In order to compensate for this massive increase in experience, this mod also raises the level cap from Level 12 to Level 20. However, be aware that you will need to multiclass and not exceed Level 12 in any of your classes, otherwise 𓃲the game will bug out and presumably crash. This mod will also increase your carrying capacity to make up for the lack of pack horses travelling with you, give you an extra Feat at Level 2, and double actions, bonus actions, spell slots and sorcery points to give you an edge in combat.

Better yet, this modder has also created a version of the mod which functions similar to the "Lone Wolf" perk from Divinity: Original Sin 2, meaning you can have a party of two people and still get the benefits. It's intended for those that only have the one person to play multiplayer with since getting a gang of three other people together with their own copies of the game is pretty difficult. You might be a two man army, but at least you'll be able to experience Baldur's Gate 3, even if you don't want any of the game's companions weighing you down.
