Summonable companions are some of the most useful party members you can access during your 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Baldur's Gate 3 playthrough. Whether you’re playing as a Beastmaster Ranger, or you’ve summoned an army of zombies to do your bidding, summons🐽 are a surefire way to increase your damage output and help yo༺u clear the battlefield quicker.
There are a number of summonable companions to choose from, and each one offers a range of unique benefits and abilities. Beyond the standard 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:ranger companions, four secret summons are available for y🦹ou to recruit on your trip to Baldur's Gate.
Scratch The Dog
The first secret summonable companion you can recruit to your party is Scratch the Dog. Scratch can be recruited to your party in Act One.
Where To Find Scratch
To find Scratch, take the trail leading West of the Emerald Grove and take the first path on your right. He will be above the Owlbear Cave.

How To Recruit Scratch
In order to recruit Scratch, you must speak with him and invite him to your camp. After a long rest, he will show up in camp. Like any other compa🐻nion, Scratch will have an exclamation point above his head when h🐼e has something new to say to you. Interact with him as much as possible.
Petting Scratch in camp for theꩲ first time will give you approval with the follow💎ing characters: Gale, Shadowheart, Wyll, and Karlach.
Eventually, Scratch will bring you a little red ball. Throw the ball for Scratch, and it will unlock the ability to summon him as a familiar. You should now have a ritual spell unlocked in your combat bar, but if you do not h♍ave this spell, throwing Scratch’s ball at an enemy or an unoccupied space will summon him just the same.
Scratch can be summoned once every short or long rest, so if he dies in comb🐼at, or you dismiss him, you will need to rest before he becomes summonable again.
Tips For Using Scratch
Scratch also has a unique ability. While you are out and about with Scratch summoned at your side, he will trigger an ability called Scratch’s Sniff which will alert you to loot in the area.
If you fail a passive survival or investigation check in the wild, return to the location with Scratch. If there is loot to be dug up, Scratch will trigger his Scratch's Sniff abili🐲ty and alert you to the loot that you missed.
Scratch may occasionally walk into traps or enemy ambushes when this ability is triggered, so it is important to consider the benefits o🥂f having him in your party while you are doing something that requires stealth.
Do not discard Scratch's Ball. Losing the ball will make it impossible to summon Scratch. Furthermore, you must have Scratch's Ball in your inventory for the Summon Scratch as a Familiar action to work. If you do manage to lose the ball, talking to Scratch in camp might prompt him to return it to you, so it's best to check in with him frequent🐼ly.
Scratch's Ball will be permanently irretrievable if you throw it into a chasm. You will also no longer be able to summon Scratch ಞoutside o💟f camp.
Shovel The Cheeky Quasit
One of the most hilarious characters in the game, Shovel the Cheeky Quasit is a snarky familiar who once belonged to the necromancer Ilyn Toth. Like Scratch, Shovel can be found and recruited in Act One of the game.
Where To Find Shovel
To find Shovel, head to the Blighted Village and enter the apothecary. It is right beside the Netherese Portal. Reading the book on the counter will reveal to you that there is a cellar beneath the building. A trap door behind the counter leads to the cellar.
Once in the cellar, head over to the bookshelf at the very back of the room. This will trigger a perception check that will reveal𓄧 that the bookshelf can be moved. Failing the check will mean that you need to find the trigger mechanism manually.
To find the trigger lever, head to the stack of crates in the corner of the room and move the top crate. Pull the lever andꦉ head down the revealed secret passageway. You will come out into a cavern with several open coffins. Be careful when looting the coffins as some contain reanimated skeletons that will attack you for disturbing their slumber.
The casket closest to the door contains a scroll of Summon Quasit.
Any non-spellcasting characters who summons Shovel will not be able to resummon him after his death or dismissal. If you wish to summon Shovel as a pꦉermanent familiar, you will need to have a wizard learn his spell.
Workarounds To Recruit Shovel Permanently As A Non-Wizard
♊If you want to be able to summon Shovel permanently as a non-wizard character, there are two workarounds to try⭕.
One solution is to temporarily change your class to wizard, learn the scroll, and change back to your original class. You 🎐will keep the option to summon Shovel upon returning to your original class.
Unfortunately, this method can get costly, as you will need to pay Withers to respec your character twice. Thi🔥s option allows any non-spellcaster to summon Shovel as a familiar.
ꦬIf you don't have any spare coin to throw into a class respec, there is a second option, but it is a little more roundabout and must be done while still in Ilyn Toth's ce♔llar.
This method only worꦓks if you are a spellcasting class (Warlock or Sorcerer). Wizards are automatically able to learn the spell scroll.
For the second workaround option, have Gale pick up and learn t . He will now have the ability : Cheeky Quasit.
You will have to 🌠equip the spell in t🏅he spellbook tab before Gale can cast it.
With Gale's new spell equiped, summon Shovel. This will immediately put you in dialogue. Shovel is a finicky companion and will require you to choose the following dialogue options:
'Illy?' |
'Your name is Shovel?' |
'What would you like to be called? |
'Shovel is fine.' |
'Is that what you and your old master did here?' |
'What book?' |
After this dialogue, dismiss Shovel and head to the talking mirror as any character. The mirror will test you൲ on your magical knowledge. To pass the test, ch🌠oose the following dialogue options:
Tell it your name. |
'Yes, an ally! I'm an ally of your master's.' |
'Szass Tam is a foul, wretched creature.' |
Depending on your class and if you passed the arcana check for this question, the answers may change. If🧔 you pass the check, choose whichever option criticizes Szass Tam.
The correct answer to the mirror's next question has some variance. For a typical conversation, choose the option, 'To clean a wound?' If Shovel told you that balsam treats burns, ignore him. He is tricking you. Giving the mirror this answer will trigger combat. If 'To clean a wound?' is not an option, choose whichever option says that Balsam is used to treat wounds.
For the mirror's final question, answer 'I'd look for whatever spell would rid me of this worm in my head'. The mirror will now grant you entry. Enter the laboratory and immediately short rest to regain access to Gale's summoning spell. Sum🌸mon Sh🍸ovel and speak to him as your player character. He will give you a spell to summon him with.
Some classes, like Storm Sorcerer, can offer to free the magic in the mir🉐ror. Offering to free the mirror will grant you entry.
Benefits To Using Shovel
The benefits of recruiting Shovel to your team extend beyond his cheeky commentary. Shovel has two special class actions: Invisibility and Scare. He also has resistance to slashing, piercing, bludgeoning, fire, cold, and lightnin🧔g damage.
The Owlbear Cub
While the Owlbear Cub will only become available to summon late game, you will have to start building your relationship with it early on.
Where To Find The Owlbear Cub
The Owlbear Cub can be found near Scratch the Dog. From the Emerald Environs portal head past the Emerald Grove entrance and take the path down to the stream. You will seꦉe a 🎉cave mouth. Enter the cave. Here, you will see an Owlbear and her cub.
It is important to remember that walking too close to the cub or its mother will trigger combat. To bypass combat, you can speak to the Owlbear Mother and calm her down either by passing an animal handling check, or a persuasion check if you have Speak to Animals active.
For a more in-depth walkthrough of your first encounter with the Owlbear Cub check out 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:How To Get The Owlbear Cub.
Looting The Owlbear Cave
While you are in the cave there are a few lootable objects of interest, includi﷽ng the spear shaft that is lodged in the Owlbear’s eye.
Trying to loot the skeletons, spear, or Owlb♈ear Nest will trigger combat. Come back after a long rest to ꦉloot these objects.
Looting the area by the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:statue of Selune will not trigger combat with the Owlbears. If you want the spearhead, you will need to come back after a long rest or two to loot the Owlbear’s corpse. The spearhead can be combined with the spear shaft on True Soul Edowin’s body in order to make the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Vision of the Absolute spear.
Rescuing The Owlbear
After peacefully resolving the encounter with the Owlbear Mother, head to the Goblin Camp and speak to Krolla. Krolla will brag that she has an unbeatable “chicken” champion – the Owlbear Cub. To free the cub, either kill the goblins or beat Krolla’s game of chicken chasing. Winning the game is easier to do♚ in turn-based mode.
If you win the game, Krolla will renege on her deal and say that the rul👍es of the game only allow 👍for goblin winners.
Krolla can be convinced through a series of skill checks to give you the Owlbear Cub - and a hefty chunk💖 of change, too, if you use your Illithid Wisdom on her.
Regardless of whether you won Krolla's game or not, you will need to speak to the Owlbear Cub. Give it your scent and invite it to camp. You will need to kill the goblins before the Owlbear Cub is able to leave its capto💖rs.
After a few long rests, the Owlbear Cub will show up in camp, and you can begin coaxing it to stay. There are several moments when the Owlbear Cub will come to camp and interact with you. Don't shoo the cub away.
After a while, it will stay in camp permanently. Having Speak to Animals active for any conversation with the Owlbear Cub will make it easier to build a relationship with it. The cub will lounge around at camp for the majority of Acts One and Two but will become summonable during the final fight against the Elder Brain.
Other perks to recruiting the cub include 🧔party approval and some pretty adorable interactions between the cub and Scratch.
Us The Intellect Devourer
The final secret summonable companion is Us the Intellect Devourer, the first NPC that you meet in the game.
Where To Find Us The Intellect Devourer: Act One
You can find Us in the second chamber of the Nautiloid. Once in the second chamber, stand on the middle platform and click on the Neural Apparatus. Next, interact with the lobotomized elven prisoner on the room's second level. This will begin the dialogue between you and Us. Free Us from the elf's skull, but do not choose the 'destroy the brain'🎶 option.
You will also have the option to 'mutilate the brain.' Choosing to Mutilate Us will make him weaker, but will also protect you if you decide to kill the other Intellect Devourers aboard the ship. Attacking another Intellect Devourer on the Nautiloid will cause Us to turn on you if you have not mutilated it. If you h💙ave altered Us, 🉐you can kill all other Intellect Devourers and still keep Us as a companion.
In the Balanced Game Mode, Us will hav♒e 15 HP 𓂃if lobotomized and 21 HP if spared.
You must agree to travel to the Helm with Us. Us will become a temporary companion for the duration of your time aboard the Nautiloid and will help you in the f𓆉ight aga𝄹inst Zhalk.
If Us dies during the fight with Zhalk, it will be unrecruitable later in the game.
Where To Find Us The Intellect Devourer: Act Two
Provided that Us survived the Nautiloid, you will encounter it again in Act Two. Towards the end of Act Two, you will find yourself in the Mind Flayer Colony beneath Moonrise Towers. From the entrance to the Mind Flayer Colony, head straight and take your first right. You will see a Flesh Wrought Door. Pass through it and into The Morgue.
Us the Intellect Devourer is inside the cage to the right of the Flesh Wrought Door. Talk to Us and agree to free it. Next, talk to Chop and persuade him to give you the key to the cage. Free Us and you will be granted the Conjure Us spell.
Benefits To Using Us
Us has some pretty neat perks, too. For starters, your new Intellect Devourer pal is considered a small creature, meaning that it is able to get into tiny spaces like holes and burrows across the map. Us also has 55 HP - unless it was mutilated on the Nautiloid - and now has resistance🍷 to bludgeoning, piercing, slashi๊ng, and necrotic damage.
Us has Darkvision and Blindsight, and since walking around with a c⛄reepy brain monster is a little alarming to most people, Us will disguise itself as an🃏 ordinary cat when in public areas.
