Citing ꦿsources familiar with the situation, Bloomberg reports that the games were cancelled due to "lacklustre demand", prompting the company to also encourage workers to resign.

In its efforts to cut back the workforce, Bandai Namco is said to be placing workers into "expulsion rooms" -🐎 sometimes also referred to as "banishment rooms" or "boredom rooms" - in which they are given no tasks, and no projects to work on. The sources say that 200 of the company's 1,300 workers have been put into these💯 rooms, with around 100 quitting already.

In Japan, this practice is known as oidashi beya, which literally translates to "expulsion room💎". This came about due to the increased job security in the country, which means employers cannot lay off employees as they would in places like the US.

In a statement to🎃 Bloo🐬mberg, Bandai Namco denies using this practice.

"Some employees may need to wait a certain amount of time before they are assigned their next project, but we do move forward with assignments as new projects emerge," says a representative of the company. "T♑here is no organization like an ‘oidashi beya’ at Bandai Namco Studios designed to pressure people to leave voluntarily,"
