Battlefield 2042's open beta may also be delayed following confirmation that the full game won't be launching until November 19, 2021.
Earlier this week, there were rumblings that Battlefield 2042's launch would be getting hit with a delay a little more than a month before it is slated to arrive. That was confirmed by Dice on Wednesday, and the latest installment in the Battlefield series will now not be here until No🌞vember 19. Not as bad as the 202๊2 release date that had been rumored, but still almost a month later than initially planned.
The delay to Battlefield's arrival also makes it seem likely that the game's upcoming beta will also be pushed back. Industry insider Tom Henderson has now claimed as much, although his findings are yet to be confirmed by the Battlefield studio. “The dates found are in an internal system that I cannot share,” Henderson tweeted.
Battlefield 2042's first ope🍸n beta waꦬs supposed to begin on September 22. According to Henderson, those who have pre-ordered the game will now have to wait until October 6 for the beta, while everyone else will get access on October 8. In fairness, that's not too long a wait as those who have already ordered a copy will be able to access the beta just two weeks later than originally planned.
The gap between Battlefield games, which just got a little longer, is the longest ever. While fans of the series are obviously hungry for something new, Dice wants to make sure what looks like a very ambitious game to be as perfect as it can be before showing it to the world. A lucky few have already been able to get hands-on with Battlefield 2042 via its technical test, and despite the delays, it won't be long until the beta and then the full game is available on various platforms.
Plenty has already been revealed about Battlefield 2042. Perhaps most notably that the new game won't include a single-player campaign, nor will it have a battle royale. It will have 128-player battles on next-gen consoles though that will be filled wꦬith bots should the lobby not fill up fast enough. You'll also have natural disasters to worry about on top of the 127 rivals hunting you down.
