Over the years since the release of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Hearthstone, several names have become iconic to the development and design of the game and its artwork. Ben Brode, Mike Donais, and now Ben Thompson can be added to the list of original members who have left Blizzard in pursuit of other goals. According to Thompson’s , he describes the logo for the Descent of Dragons expansion as his final piece of work.
Interestingly, whereas the exit of certain employees is announced before an actual departure, Thompson left Blizzard in 2019 but made little mention of it anywhere. Until recently, most people assumed he was still actively working on Hearthstone and its a๊rt. On July 7, he set the record straight ov𒅌er Twitter.
For those who may not be familiar with Thompson’s work, he has created many of the most iconic pieces seen within Hearthstone. His most notable designs are seen daily by players, including the original design for the hero art used for Rexxar. Thompson , “As a dedicated Beast Mastery H📖unter in World of Warcraft it was a real pleasure to get to paint the hero art for Rex🔯xar, the grandaddy of all hunters! I am only sorry that I didn't get to add his pet Misha to the piece.”
Thompson also came up with the original placeholder art for The Coin. This was originally only intended to be a temporary piece of art while the team decided how to proceed in early-game design, but as we all know, The Coin became a permanent part of Hearthstone and is seen in every match.
While those are early designs in the life of Hearthstone, Thompson also worked on other popular card designs that have become famous, or infamous, d𓆏epending on their power level. Some of these include Leeching Poison, Eydis Darkbane, Light’s Sorrow, and everyone’s favorite Lich King ability, Shut up, Priest.
It should come as no surprise that over time individual members will move on to new and exciting projects, but it is still sad to see them go. We thank Ben for all his great work in designing some of the best art in Hearthstone!
