However, perhaps the most moving relationships BioWare offers in its games are their romances. Whether we were Shepard, Hawke or The Warden, BioWare’s characters have swept us off our feet. Whether you’re a Dorian fan or a Fenris fancier, these games have something for ever🔯yone. However, as with all things, some characters are dreamier than others. So, for your reading pleasure, we’ve collated the best BioWare romances.

Updated on February 28, 2023 by Quinton O'Connor: Be still, our hearts. We've updated this list with a few extra bells and whistles - like surnames! - but kept Cat Bussell's original writing firmly intact. Even if we sort of wanted to add Solas. And also sort of didn't. If you know, you know.

10 Vette

Vette as seen in Star Wars: The Old Republic.

An iconic companion from 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Star Wars: The Old Republic, Vette is o🦋ne tough cookie. Initially a slave to the Sith Empire💃, Vette doesn’t take things lying down. She doesn’t suffer the oppressive evils of the Empire, nor your Sith Warrior.

However, if your character decides to walk a more nuanced path, you will quickly find that Vette becomes a close ally, helping y✃ou to right the wrongs of the Empire from the inside. If you’re lucky, that may even blossom into something new. She’s strong, reliable, opinionated and doesn&🧸rsquo;t suffer fools. What more could you want?

9 Alistair

Things you didn't know about Alistair in Dragon Age

Font of sarcasm, human Labrador and heir to the throne, Alistair’s romantic arc is a fan favourite, and with good reason. A fellow Grey Warden, Alistair knows what you’re going through. He’s sardo🌠nic and irreverent, but good-natured and gentle when he needs to be, too.

On top of all that, he has a tragic backstory, even by 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dragon Age standꦿards. This means he’s got a dark 🗹and brooding side, too. He’s devoted and loyal, even willing to put his life on the line to end the Blight and protect you. Alistair will stand with you, protecting your party and your heart.

8 Liara T'Soni

mass effect liara pokemon

Another rock, Liara has stood by Shepard since day one. The 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mass Effect galaxy is a dangerous place, and Liara initially struggled to find her place in it. This naive academic turned spymaster has a difficult time of it, to say th🐈e least.

However, despite Shepard being presumed dead for two years, she returns to your side in Mass Effect 3, wiser and stronger than she was before. Liar𓆏a’s character dওevelopment across the trilogy is a real treat, and her romance definitely reflects that. What starts as a curiosity driven fling in Mass Effect 1 becomes a deep and meaningful relationship, underpinned by trus♐t and respect. You love to see it.

7 Samantha Trayܫnor

Samantha Traynor in Mass Effect 3

A ♈late entry into the Mass Effect series, Specialist Samantha Traynor is often overlooked. Not only is she responsible for layꦉing down vital communications infrastructure (what could be sexier?), but she was also the first purely lesbian romance option in a Mass Effect game.

What starts as a steamy shower with Commander Shepard quickly blossoms into something more. In the Citadel DLC, you can support her in a sci-fi chess tournaꦚment in a heartfelt display of wholesome romantic nerdiness. ✨Her toothbrush even saves the Normandy. Need we say more?

6 Fenris

Fenris looking angry.

Everyone loves a bad boy. This brooding, misundersto🌺od amnesiac prowls the streets of Kirkwall in Dragon Age 2. Hateful towards mages, quick to anger and full of angst, Fenris takes tortured to a whole new level. Maybe you can change him. Maybe you don’t want to.

Unlike many other BioWare romance options, Fenris will﷽ actually break things off with you in Act 2 because of his fears of commitment. However, if you stick with him, 🍌he’ll eventually let you in. Fenris is extremely datable, but you have to work for it.

5 🧸 🎃 Jaal Ama Darav

Closeup Of Jaal Ama Darav wearing his eyepiece in Mass Effect: Andromeda.

Mass Effect: Andromeda may have released to mixed reviews, but Jaal gets a ten out of ten. This ge𒊎ntle, poetic soul is exactly the kind of guy you can take home to meet your parents. This is fitting, given Jaal is a family man through and through.

During his romance arc, he takes Ryder to meet his family, showing them his childhood bedroom: the “tiny sanctuary” where he grew up. Fighting the Kett may be brave, but there’s nothing more cour🦩ageous than opening ♕up emotionally.

4 Merrill

Merril in Dragon Age 2

Merrill is a flawed Dalish zealot, doing whatever she can to repair the ancient Elven artifact in her care. To do this, she ⛦is eℱven willing to turn to Blood Magic. She’s driven and extremely intense.

However, get past the more intense parts of her personality, and you’ll find that she’s a gentle, eccentric soul. Despite being a blood mage, ꦏMerrill is often kind and merciful, placing great importance on the preserva𝐆tion of innocent life. Her romance arc reflects these qualities. Come for the moral ambiguity, stay for the wholesomeness.

3 Iron Bull

The Iron Bull.

Iron Bull is a pansexual king. Despite his mysterious agenda, Iron Bull is very open, both about his status as a Qunari spy, and his sexual and romantic tastes. H♕e’s a fascinating character, capable of great gentleness but also great violence. This duality has led many to fall for his char♋ms.

He’s also deeply complex. In the Trespasser DLC, if you didn’t save his mercenary company in an earlier mission, Iron Bull will betray the Inquisitor and side with the Qunari. This makes for a heart-wrenching se🎃quence. However, if you take the time to protect Bull’s friends, he’ll side with you, once again showing thatꦇ the best relationships require a bit of give and take.

2 𓄧 🥀 Dorian Pavus

dorian dragon age

Fashionable, debonair and witty, Dorian stole our hearts in D♚ragon Age: Inquisition. Dorian fled the stifling and conservative trappings of his native Tevinter Imperium, seeking something more from the wider world.

If 🍸you’re playing a male Inquisitor and choose to pursue Dorian, he finds just that; finally able to purs💎ue a lasting relationship with another man in a way he never could back home. Beneath the bluster and the bravado, Dorian is a sensitive sort and takes to calling the Inquisitor “Amatus” as a cutesy pet name.

1 Garrus Vakarian ꩲ

Garrus in the Normandy gun battery

This inexplicably dreamy reptile is one of the most celebrated romances of the Mass Effect series. When you meet Garrus, he’s a disillusioned investigator, willing to bend rules. You grow close over the course of the first g📖ame, but then, tragedy strikes in the opening of Mass Effect 2.

He spends two years without you, indulging h꧅is more vengeful tendencies. In true Mass Effect fashion, you have a choice: pull him out of his spiral, or go down there with him. Either way, the romance that can ensue is one of the most emotionally charged in video game history. In Mass Effect 3 this chitinous dork only becomes more endearing. Also, he’s the only companion you can literally dance the tango with. Case closed.
