The team behind designing new Pokemon seems to love making new creatures based on housecats and other felines. There are a ton of cat-like Pokemon, going all the way back to the original generation with the likes of Meowth and Persian. But, 🅺some of them are better than others, based purely on appearance and personality.

Some Pokemon are 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:based on foxes or dogs and look somewhat feline, but aren't actually cats (foxes are in the Canidae family with dogs, after all). Pokemon like Eevee and Vulpix may seem cat-like, but they're closer to foxes or other similar animals. These Pokemon are the most cat-like and would be great companions on any of your adventures or for a quick nap on the couch.

Updated on November 23, 2022 by Kyle Chamaillard. Nearly every generation of Pokemon introduces a new cat to swoon over, and Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have once again brought a new kitten or two for fans to adore. Now that there are over 1,000 Pokemon registered in the National Pokedex, we thought it was the perfect time to update this list with even more of our favorite cat Pokemon from the series.

15 Meowstic

A pair of Meowstic prepare for battle in a field in front of people

These cat-like Psychic-type Pokemon were introduced in Generation 6, along with their pre-evolution, Espurr. While Espurr is cute and doe-eyed, its blank stare is pretty creepy, and it looks like it knows something the rest of us don't. Meowstic, on the other hand, is a bit more personable.

Part of what makes Meowstic interesting is its gender differences. Most Pokemon have subtle differences between the male and female forms, but Meowstic has a significant color-palette swap. The males are mostly dark blue💟 with white accents, while the females have mainly white fur with bits of blue scattered throughout.

14 Pyroar

A male and female Pyroar look at each other

Py💙roar is a Fire and Normal-type that is based on lions. Like Meowstic, these lions were introduced in Pokemon X and Y and have pretty significant gender differences. A male Pyroar has a full mane of la♊rge flames, while the females have a long whip of flame that resembles a ponytail.

Pyroar is one of the larger cat Pokemon and its fiery mane can heat up any battle in a🥃 flash. You can obtain one by leveling a Litleo to leveꦡl 35, which should help you take down any Grass or Ice-type trainers standing in your way.

13 Zangoose

Zangoose prepares to attack on a dirt path in front of a forest

Zangoose might not be the first Pokemon you think of when asked about cat-like Pokemon, but the describes it a🃏s the Cat Ferret Pokemon. Zangoose is inspired by the mongoose spౠecies and its personality and aggression toward Seviper can be rooted back to the carnivorous mammals.

Mongooses are one of the few species capable of resisting snake venom, which means they can hunt and eat them without risking being poisoned. Zangoose and Seviper a𒁃re natural enemies and will begin fighting as soon as they see each other. Zangoose might be great for battling, but its tough exterior makes it hard to want to relax with one.

12 Zeraora

Zeraora looks frustrated as Ash nuzzles its tail

Zeraora was introduced as one of the final generation 7 Pokemon and joined the ever-growing roster of feline-based Mythical and Legendary Pokemon. After making its debut in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, Zeraora would also star in the movie 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Power of Us in 2018, which helped popularize it even more.

This Electric-type Pokemon is mostly known for its speed, which is on full display in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokemon Unite as one🌸 of the playable characters. Zeraora🦹 is salso shockingly powerful so if you like to strike fast and hard, this electric cat could be a perfect choice for your party.

11 Mew

Mew floats in the air

Mew is definitely based loosely on a cat, as is Mewtwo despite looking more humanoid. The two are meant to resemble embryos because of their links to the rest of all Pokemon. However, both have𝐆 clear feline features. Mew also acts very cat-like, being playful and cutesy while also a little shy at times.

Mew embodies the ideal features of an anime neko, with the pink coloring, innocent demeanor, and long tail. It's also one of the most iconic Pokemon in franchise history, from its days in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokemon Snap to rare appearances in the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Smash Bros. series.

10 Delcatty

Delcatty smiles in front of a Skitty

One of the original glam cats, Delcatty is the evolution of Skitty, a cute little pink cat. Both were introduced in Generation 3. Part of what makes Delcatty great is its simplicity. It's clearly a housecat, and neither the coloring nor the design is too complicated either.

Delcatty's state that it loves to sleep and doesn't care where or what time it is when they do. As a result, its neck detail looks like one of those airplane neck pillows, which could come in handy if you need something to nap on after a long day of work.

9 𒀰 Incineroar

Pokemon: Incineroar prepares to attack in a wrestling ring

Often, cat Pokemon are focused on being more cute and cuddly than buff and intimidating. There are a few exceptions to this, but Incineroar is a clear break from that design motif. This Fire and Dark-type is the final evolution of Litten, the Generati♏on 7 Fire-starter. Litten eventually ditches its quadrupedal stance in favor of this boastful wrestler design.

Incineroar is a great design, with the flaming championship belt, the tufts of fur on either side of its face, and a clear attitude that matches its design. It was surprising to see little Litten grow up to become Incineroar, but less surprising to see this wrestling-obsessed cat make an appearance as a playable character in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

8 Purugly

Purugly walks down a dirt path in front of a mountain

Purugly is a Normal-type Pokemon introduced in Generation 4 that evolves from an almost equally-lovable cat, Glameow. However, Purugly takes the edge here for a couple of reasons. First, it's one of the few Pokemon that's meant to be intentionally hideous. Second, it just has more personality than Glameow.

This big cat is often cited as one of the ugliest Pokemon, and that's fair, but it's great because it's meant to be. Purugly knows it's a big, ugly housecat, and it doesn't care. It loves to be pampered, and it gets all the attention and love it wants, regardless.

7 Liepard

Liepard prepares to pounce in a forest

There's something so aesthetically special about Liepard. It might be the color combination of purple and yellow, which are complementary colors. The pink eye mask is great, too. Liepard's svelte design is also nice, as is its fun curly tail. The small leopard-like pattern is also a small and not overdone touch.

This Dark-type was introduced in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokemon Black and White and was an incredibly common choice for many members of Team Plasma. Despite its evil connections, it's very lovable when you catch one of your own and visit it in Pokemon Amie, Refresh, or take it camping in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokemon Sword and Shield.

6 Luxray

Luxray roars on a dirt path in a jungle

Due to its round and mousy ears, you might not immediately think of Luxray as a cat Pokemon. But it seems to be based on a lynx, which is a type of wild cat. This is further confirmed by Luxray's pre-evolution being named Shinx, which is a clear play on the word lynx.

Luxray has been a fan-favorite Electric-type ever since it was introduced in Generation 4. It has a phenomenal design that immediately evokes an aura of intimidation, toughness, and darkness. Its relation to X-rays is evident not just in its name but also in its , which often state that it can see through m𒁏ost walls and objects.
