Having been around since the ancient Greeks, centaurs have become one of the most recognized mythical ꦓbeasts of all time. From literature to movies, people have enjoyed a variety of human-horse hybrids that have ranged from helpful forest friends to powerful equine enemies.
The same can be said for video games, but where most other forms of media have taken the classic approach, games have been much more creative. Here, we'll take a look at the best centaurs that gaming has to offer, with the only requirement being that they have to have a bottom half that is at least horse-like and is intended to give the appearance of a centaur.
10 🌊 Rav🔜enHooves - MediEvil
One of the best things about centaurs is the mythology and wonder behind them. And what creates more prestige than a statue dedicated to your heroism? RavenHooves The Archer from MediEvil fits this in spades.
The only non-human in the Hall of Heroes, RavenHooves was the last prince of his people and was especially famous as a hunter, playboy, and three-time derby winner. In game, he gives Sir Daniel Fortesque various longbows meant for ranged attacks. RavenHooves seems like a great character, but is unfortunately just a statue. Otherwise, he'd be much higher on this list. Fun fact: his cousin was a police horse.
9 Mutated Centaurs - Fa♑llout 3 𓃲
For a series as dark as Fallout, it may seem odd that there would be something as majestic as a centaur. That's because these centaurs aren't anything like the beloved horse humans we have come to love. Instead, they are disgusting mutants.
Fallout 3's centaurs are the results of humans combined with various animal parts and infected with the Forced Evolutionary Virus. This created grotesque abominations that run around on four human arms and have three tentacles coming out of their mouths. More often than not, centaurs are accompanied by Super Mutants and are incredibly dangerous to any wastelander that may be wandering the remains of the city.
8 Atlantean Centaur 𓄧- Tomb Raider 🦩
When people think of Atlanteans, they usually think of humanoids that live underwater and have the appearances of a fish. Apparently, the developers of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Tomb Raider didn't agree, and instead decided to show them as monstrous creatures without any skin.
The centaur forms are particularly frightening because of all the extra bones that come with being part horse. And while all of these monsters return in Tomb Raider Anniversary, they aren't nearly as terrifying. Fortunately, we'll always have these terrifying blood-red pony people.
7 🦩 𒆙 Motaro - Mortal Kombat
Motaro is probably the most well-known centaur in video games, debuting as a sub-boss in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mortal Kombat 3. Unlike the others on this list, Motaro sports a rat-like tail and is strong enough to rip the skin off of an opponent in a single pull. He's also completely immune to projectiles.
So why isn't Motaro higher on this list? Well, that's because he hasn't always been a centaur. In Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, all of the centaurs had been put under a curse to instead look like Minotaurs. In reality, this was because it was too difficult for the developers to make his horse body in a 3D environment. While this is understandable from a design standpoint, it does mean that Motaro was not always a centaur.
6 Centaur Man - Mega Man 6 💎
Various Robot Masters in Mega Man have had the appearance and abilities of mythical creatures, lik🥂e Splash Woman and Shade Man, but before either of them existed, there was Centaur Man: a robot made to look like a centaur to guide guests through a museum. While this may not make sense from a design perspective, it does make him a formidable opponent.
Centaur Man's extra legs make him faster and more agile than other Robot Masters, but he is unable to jump. On top of this, his signature move, Centaur Flash, can freeze time. While it's unclear what this has to do with centaurs, it is definitely helpful when Mega Man uses it. But no matter what, Centaur Man's unique appearance compared to his contemporaries makes him one of the most memorable robots in the series.
5 Dora - Golden Axe: The Revenge Of Death Adder ๊
If you ever want to enjoy a classic arcade beat 'em up, you've got to play any of the games in the Golden Axe series. You control one of four heroes and fight your way through a series of medievil landscapes in order to take on the final boss. And one of the best characters to play as is Dora, one of the earliest playable centaurs.
Dora is a centaur who carries a weighted staff to attack enemies. On top of this, she can kick them with her horse legs, causing massive damage, and mov🤪e faster than any other character. The only downside is that she is easier to hit because, well, she is half horse. Another interesting ability of hers is that she can become a regular person whenever she mounts one of the iconic rideable monsters. Buౠt since this is only a temporary transformation, she is still considered a full centaur.
4 🅰 Kholek Suneater - Warhammer 3
Even though some of the centaurs have been horrifying monstrosities, none are as evil as Kholek Suneater. A Shaggoth from 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Warhammer, Suꦛneater is described as being beyond all mor🐼tal reckoning. He is one of the leaders of the Warriors of Chaos and was there when they pledged their race in servitude to the Dark Gods in order to attain immortality.
Aesthetically, Kholek Suneater is massive and menacing. He wields a gigantic hammer, and instead of being half man, half horse, Suneater has the bottom half of a dragon. He can defeat entire battalions with ease, and is said to blot out the sun with storms wherever he appears. Needless to say, you'd be best avoiding Kholek Suneater.
3 🔯 A Who🌠le Herd - Shining Force Series
While the most iconic tactical RPGs nowadays are 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Final Fantasy Tactics, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Fire Emblem, and Disgaea, the pinnacle in the 90s was definitely 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Shining Force. Every Shinin𓆉g Force game features exploration, well animated battle scenes, and a ton of recruitable characters. And among those characters, there are centaurs. A whole bunch of centaurs.
Seriously, the amount of centaurs in these🦄 games is staggering, with at least three characters in every game. More often than 💞not, centaurs are either powerful knights or archers that can be upgraded to be paladins, or Pegasus knights with wings. They are known for their strength and for never backing down in a fight. If you ever want to make it through any of the Shining Force games, you have got to have a centaur in your squad.
2 ൩ 🌠 Lynel - The Legend Of Zelda
168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Legend of Zelda series has created many iconic enemies including the Octorok, the Bokoblins, and the Wallmasters. But none have been quite as intimidating as the Lynel: a centaur that was given a lion's head just to make sure you know they mean business.
While they're treated as common enemies, finding one always feels like a boss fight. In every game they've been in, Lynels have been one of if not the most difficult enemy with their sheer power, aggression, and incredible design. They reached their peak in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Breath of the Wild, where it takes mastery of everything you've learned to defeat them.
1 Decadಞes Of 𒁃Centaurs - Might And Magic
While other centaurs have more individual personality or have taken liberties with the original concept, no seri♒es has captured the glory of the traditional centaur quite like Might and Magic. From the original games, to Heroes, and𓆉 to Duel of Champions, each design has been unique and gorgeous without straying too far from what people expect from centaurs.
While the most exciting look comes from the zebra centaurs in Might and Magic: Heroes 6, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the digital card game Duel of Champions features a lot of amazing centaurs differing in age, discipline, and power. It makes you want to experience the world t🎃hese centaurs live in. And because of that, the centaurs in Might and Magic truly stand above the rest.
