What Estelle lacks in experience she makes up for with energy and a willingness to work hard in abundance. She is a beloved character for those who are fans of the series, and some would even argue that she's one of the better prot🐷agonists in JRPGs in general. ꦺShe and her foster brother Joshua set out to find out what happened to their father and his shipꦇ.
The journey leads them into an adventure filled with so much development aꦚnd growth, they had to split the game into three parts. She learns to stand on her own two feet as a person in the second game while chasing after her brother, who left her at the en꧙d of the first game.
3 Zero - Dr✤akengard 3
Drakengard 3 is a good example of how, just because someone is a protagonist, doesn't mean they're a hero. Zero is crude and violent, not giving a care for anyone or anything that isn't her goal of killing her sisters, including herself. Hell, even when she saves the 'people' who were enslaved by her sisters, she only did it for selfish reasons.
None of this is to say that she is a bad character. On the contrary — she is complex and interesting to watch. All her actions and justifications have an undercurrent of guilt for being the reason her sisters exist in the first place. They are a genuine sign of the end of the world, so she must make it right. It's easy to write her off as one-dimensional and vulgar, but she's so much more than that.

She does her job with grace and understanding, and often, she'll do the soul she is recruiting a favor by giving the remaining life force to a loved one.
Not even a battle maiden can escape the grasp of love. In a previous human incarnation, she had feelings for a childhood friend, only to meet them again in her battle maiden form. Nothing screams coincidence more than running into your true love for the first time again. After that, she sets off on a path to protect those she's come to care for.

If spite and rage were a demon person, Velvet would be the spokesperson. She's had everything taken from her: Her mentor, her brother, and even her humanity. Velvet walks the earth as a vessel once filled with love, now with rage and a burning desire for revenge against the one that wronged her.
Watching her grow from murderous apathy toward her party to someone who loves and accepts love from others is a relatable joy that we don't get to see often, and a quick smile to party member Eleanor after a long relationship of distrust will have you saying "aw" each time. Velvet is cathartic to play too — how often are you able to act on your revenge as she can?
