Whenever you think of video game 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:rock bands, you might think of acts like The Protomen or Powerglove. Or maybe, you think of the bands formed with your friends in Guitar Hero or Rock Band. But, there is an even smaller subset of🌺 bands🐟 that were created for video games. And a bunch of them freaking rule!
As Pete Wentz once said, "What would rock and roll be without ambition, craziness, danger, and fun?" That's the metric we'll be using to judge the bands on this list, along with the quality of their music and the game they hail from. So let's look at the best fictional bands that video games have to offer!
10 Kichijoji Metal Girls ꧙(Gal Metal)
If you wanted to get the spirit of BABYMETAL in a video game, then Gal Metal on the Switch is your best bet. You play as the drumme꧙r of the Kichijoji Metal Girls (K.M.G.) after she has been merged with an unassuming high school boy by aliens. These octopus-esque terrestrials want to destroy Earth and the only way to defeat them is with heavy metal, because of course it is!
The story is absolutely bonkers, but it has a charming manga-inspired art style and t✨he gameplay is pretty fun. The real heart of Gal Metal, though, comes from the members of K.M.G. who are each given 𒀰distinct personalities and are fun to be around. Come for the sick songs, but stay for the charming characters.
9 ♛ ꧟ Alida (Alida)
Alida is a point-and-click adventure game 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:similar to Myst. Developed solely by Cos Russo over five years, Alida takes place on an island shaped like a giant guitar that was built by the rock band Alida after their first album became a huge success. When their fame starts to die down, the four bandmates hide their acquired wealth in different parts of the island. It's now up to you to find them.
Unfortunately, there is no music by Alida the band on the internet, but how incredible of a backstory is that?! If you want a game that shows the excess of the rock n' roll lifestyle, check out the game where a band built an island shaped like a giant guitar.
8 💯 Love Fist (Grand Theft Auto: Vice City) 🃏
168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Grand Theft Auto: Vice City wasn't just proof that the open-world concept was here to stay, it was also a loving homage to '80s culture. And nothing screams "The '80s" more than hair metal, captured perfectly in-game by the Scottish band Love Fist.
In Vice City, you get to party with them, save them from a murderous fan, and make them some love juice. But the real highlight comes from their awesome songs that play over the radio. Love Fist became so beloved by fans that there have been references to them in every game since including a chance to meet up with the bassist Willy in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Grand Theft Auto V.
7 Sex Bob-Omb (Scot𒀰t Pilgrim Vs. The World) 𓆉
Alright, this will probably be the most contested placement on this list. Sex Bob-omb from 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World is iconic and lives in the hearts of all nerds who grew up in the late 2000s. But how much of that love comes from the game compared to the graphic novel and♔ film?
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World the game is an incredible brawler, but the great soundtrack is courtesy of Anamanaguchi, not Sex Bob-omb. However, they do have an incredible musical moment where if all of the band members taunt at the same time, they'll summon a yeti that will dish out massive damage to all the enemies. That's metal as hell!
6 Old Gods Of Asgard (Alan Wake, C🅷ontrol) 🅘
The town of Bright Falls from 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Alan Wake has a lot of interesting characters, but two standouts are the Anderson brothers, Tor and Odin. Not only did the two of them help Wake escape from the Cauldron Lake Lodge, 🔯but they were also members of the band Oꦦld Gods of Asgard.
A truly epic band that was also featured in the Control, Old Gods of Asgard combined Norse mythology and fantasy with hard rock. Thꦦis leads to some truly epic songs like Children of the Elder God and Take Control.
5 Feast Of The Senses (Psychonauts 2)🀅 ❀
A lot of people are going to be mad that Iron Heade from Brutal Legend isn't on this list, but in its stead, we have another 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Double Fine band with Jack Black at lead vocals: Feast of the Senses from 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Psychonauts 2.
In Psychonauts 2, the main character Raz encounters a forgotten brain in a jar. After connecting it to a body, he can enter a visually stunning world that takes visual cues from The Beatles' Yellow Submarine film. Here, Raz must reunite the brain's five senses to form the band Feast of the Senses. The resulting song, "Cosmic I," is genuinely wonderful and the perfect climactic moment for the level.
4 Star-Lord (Guardians Of The Galaxy) ꦕ
One of the cool things about the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Guardians of the Galaxy video game is how different a direction it takes on the source material than the films. For example, in the game, instead of making up his superhero name, Peter Quill borrows it from his favorite band as a kid: 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Star-Lord.
This concept prompted senior audio director Steve Szczepkowski to come up with an album for the band Star-Lord. And it's flarking good! Each song feels epic and believably like something a teen in the '80s would blast out of their Ford Mustang on the way to the mall.
3 Bunk Bed Juncti♔on (No Straight Roads)
If there is one thing rock is all about it's sticking it to the man. If the corporate big wigs want bubblegum pop, then rock is going to give them gravelly grunge. And if there is one game that's all about standing up to sellouts, it's 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:No Straight Roads.
Bunk Bed Junction is an indie rock band made up of guitarist Mayday and drummer Zuke. It's up to them to release Vinyl City from the clutches of EDM with the power of rock! Or so they thought at first because the real highlight of this game is watching how Mayday and Zuke grow both as people and artists.
2 ⛎ Off The Hook (Splatoon 2)
One of the things that made Splatoon feel so unique was the Squid Sisters: a pop duo that delivered in-game news and performed unbelievably catchy pop songs. They quickly became beloved by fans and representatives of the entire Splatoon franchise. Who knew that Nintendo would top them in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Splatoon 2 with Off The Hook?
After Squid Sisters split up, hosting duties were taken over by Off The Hook members Pearl and Marina, and they're fantastic! Pearl's brashness is balanced perfectly by Marina's coyness. Plus, their songs are real bangers! The Splatoon series is filled with a lot of fantastic bands, but few can hold a candle to Off The Hook. Here's hoping that the trend continues in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Splatoon 3!
1 😼 MilkCan (Um Ja🍒mmer Lammy)
Nowadays, it's easy to forget just how big PaRappa the Rapper was. The rhythmic gameplay was a blast and it looked like nothing that had come before. It quickly became a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Playstation classic, spawning a mediocre sequel and a delightfully weird spin-off called Um Jammer Lamm🌃y.
Um Jammer Lammy is completely bonkers, featuring a chainsaw-wielding beaver, a trip to hell via banana peel (in the Japanese version), and the main character eating so much pizza that a nurse assumes she's pregnant. Rude. But most importantly, it had MilkCan: an all-girl punk band with seriously catchy songs. While the songs are great, what makes MilkCan memorable is the chemistry between guitarist Lammy and lead singer Katy Kat. These girls are amazing and released a full album in 1999. It's a shame that the game didn't sell well because the world would be a lot better with more MilkCan.
