168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokemon's Flying-type might be the most interesting one from a matchup perspective. It's immune to a very strong and popular type in Ground, but it provides Pokemon carrying other types with interesting type matchups.
It's arguably even more interesting competitively, with Stealth Rock and the Heavy Duty Boots item being so commonly utilized, but that's a discussion for another day. What this list can provide is an overview of the best Flying-type Pokemon for 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Generation Eights Singles co🎐mpetitive metaꦡgame. Some 𒁃of them are more offensi💧ve and others are more defensive, but all of them are recommended looks for teambuilders.
Note: This will not include Pokemon currently banned to Ubers.
15 Togekiss
Generation Fours Togekiss is infamous in whatever tier it appears in for relying on a Serene Grace and Air Slash combo on offense. The STAB Flying-type move deals good damage, but it's mainly utilized for its doubled chance of causing opponents to flinch.
It's not just a one-trick pony, with access to good coverage moves, a great set-up option in Nasty Plot, solid defenses and bulk, and Roost as a great healing move. Its Fairy/Flying-typing has a whopping five weaknesses, though, so there are a lot of counters to watch out for.
14 Pelipper
It's appreciated more by Water-types for its ability to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:bring rain with Drizzle, but that does make it a great Flying-type. Rain teams don't exist without Pelipper running the show. Having the Flying-type is a big reason why it's better than the former prototype rain-setter, Politoed.
The ability to deal Flying-type offense via Hurricane while adding a few resistances defensively puts Pelipper o🦩ver the top, along with just having a wider movepool that also includes Defog, U-Turn, and a nice spread of special Water-type moves. Just 𝔉make sure to keep it alive for your team to function properly.
13 Gyarados
It's hard to really call it 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:an♌ accurate represent💦ation of the Flying-type, but Gyarados is one of the best and most iconic Pokemon to carry it. Competitively, it's a classic set-up sweeper, using Dragon Dance and its Moxie ability to stockpile on Attack and Speed boosts.
It helps being versatile offensively, having access to☂ strong moves from different types, such as Waterfall, Earthquake, Ice Fang, and Power Whip. The Flying-type does rear its ugly head with the absolutely barren move selecti🅘on, though, the two-turn attack Bounce being the only physical option of that type.
12 Celesteela ꦏ
The only Flying-type of the Ultra Beasts, Celesteela is an all-around threat. with all its stats being in the 97-107 range save for its 61 Speed. That isn't necessarily great for a Pokemon with Beast Boost, but it has a lot going for it regardless.
It works great as a defensive utility Pokemon, and it has a wide array of moves to fulfill that role, both for offense and support. You shouldn't mold it into an offensive or defensive focal point, though; it's meant to be a "glue guy", so to speak.
11 Salamence
Dragonite is strong competition for the title of best Dragon/Flying-type pseudo-Legendary, but Salamence makes a solid case for it, too. It has the exact same ability choices as Gyarados, but it's more versatile in that both abilities are given near-equal attention.
It's also quite versatile in that it can be either a physical or special attacker, having sufficient stats and the right moves for both styles. It's also not bad defensively, having alright defenses at 80 each and good bulk at 95 HP. Simply put, Salamence is just a no-frills, super-strong Pokemon.
10 Moltres
Aside from the Uber-tier Ho-Oh, other Fire/Flying-types like Charizard and Talonflame have been sporadically viable at best. Moltres's relative consistency despite the horrible typing on paper is a testament to how good it is.
It has a favorable matchup against a lot of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:high-tier Pokemon, and it has the offensive potency to exploit that: a 125 Attack stat and great STAB moves. It has good support capability, too, with Toxic, Defog, and the Pressure ability for PP stalling. Just be sure to put on some Heavy Duty Boots and avoid its checks, and you're set.
9 Thundurus
Thundurus is the only one of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the three Forces of Nature that gets just about equal viabilit🌊y from both its forms. Its Incarnate form is slightly faster,༒ while its Therian form is a stronger special attacker.
Regardless, Thundurus is a great competitive Pokemon on paper, working best as an offensive Pokemon. It's got a good typing, a Nasty Plot for set-up, and a wide array of attacking moves for both its STAB types and coverage. Unfortunately, its somewhat underwhelming Speed stats in either form, when compared to other offensive Pokemon, could really expose its below-average defenses.
8 Hawlucha
This Fighting/Flying-type will need some help to do its job, but otherwise, it's an excellent late-game sweeper. That help typically comes from Terrain setters, because Hawlucha's best movesets utilize its Unburden ability.
The deal with Hawlucha is to bring it out on a Terrain while holding the respective Terrain Seed, get a Speed spike from Unburden, and sweep away. It's one of the few competitive Pokemon that can plausibly utilize Acrobatics, thanks to losing its held item in this process. As long as potential counters are taken care of, Hawlucha can be a deadly offensive focal point.
7 Skarmory
N🍌ot many Pokemon are as equipped to defensively check strong offensive Pokemon as Skarmory, especially on the🍌 physical end, with its 140 Defense being the highest among all Flying-types available in Sword and Shield.
Speaking of which, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:being a Steel/Flying-type is a huge help in that regard, giving it good defensive type matchups against the strongest Pokemon in OU. It's an excellent support Pokemon as well, with access to Toxic and Spikes, and Body Press for offense in a pinch. It's best paired with Pokemon that can make up for its lacking special bulk (70 Special Defense).
6 Mandibuzz
Another defensively proficient Flying-type, Mandibuzz has excellent bulk at 115 HP and good defenses on both the physical and s♔pecial ends. U-Turn, Defog, and Toxic are staples in its movesets, along with Roost to give it some extra longevity.
Other than that, it's not great offensively, with Knock Off and the somewhat situational Foul Play as its most viable attacking moves. It's unmistakably there to take hits and provide some support. Make sure to equip Heavy-Duty Boots and avoid chip damage from Stealth Rock or Toxic, so as to not leave it vulnerable to strong wallbreakers.
