Few movie monsters in history have the legacy of Godzilla. Not only does he have a really cool name, but it feels like he's been around forever. He first appeared in the 1954 Godzilla film. Since then, many movies featuring the oversized creature have been released.

Usually he's not the only giant monster in the movie, as he's typically fighting or teaming with a bunch of equally large beasts, such as King Kong. The quality of these films has varied a lot, but there are some that are really worth checking out. Out of those currently available to buy, these are the standouts.

The 2014 Godzilla movie serves as a reboot of the series. It revolves around an American soldier who must travel to Japan to hel🥂p his father. While there, things begin to go south as multiple monsters wake up and start causing havoc. Humanity then searches for a way to save the world.

Pros & Cons
  • Great cast that includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen, and Ken Watanabe
  • Brilliant visual effects, particularly for the monster fights
  • Helped get the franchise back on track
  • Not enough screen time for either Bryan Cranston or Godzilla

In the build-up to its release, t🅺his 2014 Godzilla movie was highly anticipated. Bryan Cranston regularly provided excellent performances in Breaking Bad around this time💎, so seeing him in a Godzilla title was exciting. Unfortunately, neither he nor the titular monster gets much screen time in the flick.

This is still a solid monster movie, though. In fact, some people may even appreciate the usage of the titular creature. It's a slow burn as you see little bits and moments of Godzilla before he truly makes his presence felt. Once he does, the visual effects are worth the wait, as there is some wonderful action in the latter stages of the film.

There's a lot going on in Godzilla: Final Wars. There's an alien race, a superhuman Earth Defense♏ Force, plenty of monsters, and, of course, Godzilla hi𒊎mself. The titular creature plays the role of the hero in this one, as he must stop the litany of monsters destroying the world.

Pros & Cons
  • Contains plenty of fun, exciting battles
  • Features many monsters from the series' history
  • Hilariously cheesy
  • Not the best writing or storytelling

If your interest in Godzilla movies comes from your love of watching giant beasts beat the stuffing out of one another, then Final Wars might be the film for you. After all, it doesn't provide great storytelling, characters, or writing, but it excels when it comes to the large brawls.

Most of them are silly and outrageous, as many of the creatures unleash some very wacky moves in an attempt to get the better of their opponents. For example, the King Caesar monster crawls partway up a mountain and flips back toward Godzilla in the sort of move you would only perform with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:WWE action figures. What could be more entertaining than that?

From the start of Godzilla vs. Destoroyah, Godzilla is in pretty bad shape, as his nuclear reactor heart is nearing a meltdown. If it happens, not only will he die, but he'll take the world with him. Another concern for humanity is the new group of antagonistic creatures that have arrꦗived, ready to cause plenty of pain and destruction.

Pros & Cons
  • Interesting storyline
  • Surprisingly emotional
  • The Destoroyah makes for a good antagonistic monster

Godzilla movies generally lack depth, as they're more about spectacle and entertainment. Yet, Godzilla vs. Destoroyah actually has some emotional moments. This comes from the fact that Godzilla faces his own mortality throughout the movie, and you can see him literally burning from the inside.

It makes this a different sort of Godzilla movie, as it's arguably the most sympathetic the monster has ever been. However, that doesn't mean this is a complete departure from classic Godzilla films. You still get the giant monster battles and copious amounts of destruction. Godzilla's impending doom just adds an extra element to the whole thing.

All About The Action

Release Date
December 13, 2003
Runtime
91 minutes

Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S. takes place ꦓa year after Godzilla𓆉 Against Mechagodzilla, and the mechanical monster is still recovering from the battle. Godzilla returns, though, and battles Mothra before a repaired Kiryu (aka Mechagodzilla) gets involved. The movie revolves around the three monsters.

Pros & Cons
  • Plenty of exciting action
  • Focuses on the big battles
  • A basic plot

In Gꦦodzilla: Toyko S.O.S, both story and character progression take a back seat. The mo🔴vie is only 91 minutes long, and a large percentage of that is dedicated to monster-on-monster battles.

So, it's undoubtedly a fast-paced and action-packed film. And as the big fights are often the best part about these flicks, it's not the worst thing in the world. Yet, if you're someone who wants a strong narrative alongside the creature fighting, this might not be the Godzilla movie for you.

The Battle Between Two Icons

Release Date
March 24, 2021
Runtime
113 minutes

Two of the most famous movie monsters ever go face-to-face in Godzilla vs🌞. Kong. Godzilla is a danger to all of humanity, whereas Kong actually cares about at least a few humans. As such, the giant ape might be humanity's last hope of stopping Godzilla.

Pros & Cons
  • Exceptional visual effects
  • Amazing fights between the titular monsters
  • The humans are uninteresting

Godzilla fights plenty of large creatures in his movies. Yet, it's extra special to see him square up against King Kong. This is down to Kong being an equally iconic movie monster. Of course, just because both of the characters are legendary doesn't mean every movie with them involved will be good.

However, thankfully, Godzilla vs. Kong delivers the goods, especially when it comes to its central premise. The battles between the two monsters are exciting and look incredible due to the movie's beautiful visual effects. The human characters are less exciting but don't get in the way too much.
