RPGs are back, bigger than ever. There were some rocky years for a while, but the genre seems to be in a very healthy spot. While this is great, there is one thing that seems left in the past: the hidden character. It seems like most modern RPG developers aren't interested in spending the resources on developing a character and having them be completely missable.Related: 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Villians Who End Up Joining 🐽The Good GuysEven remakes of classic games that originally hadꦆ secret characters have made them completely unmissable. Now is as good a time as ever to look back longingly at these super interesting characters that were made all the more special by being hidden away.

10 Tales Of Destiny, Bruiser Khang ཧ

Tales Of Destiny's Bruiser Khang in a fighting pose

168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Tales franchise isn't known for having many hidden characters, but the first few games did include them. Bruiser Khang is a completely optional character who you can recruit as soon as the co🦂losseum becomes available.

He is notable in that he is the first martial arti🐟st character in the series. Unlike many of his peers, though, Bruiser Khang is all about duffing his enemies with big hits. He is easily one of the least mobile martial artists in the series, but also one of the hardest-hitting.

9 Star𓂃 Ocean: The Second Story, Opera

Star Ocean 2's Opera holding her giant gun

168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Star Ocean: The Second Story's Opera is a three-eyed gun-toting force of nature. In order to recruit her, you need to avoid recruiting certain characters; otherwise♎, she will be completely unavailable. You then need to engage in a quest to find the three-eyed man. If you do keep a spot open for her, and you neglect to recruit Ashton, you will receive her aid (as well as the aid of her massive gun).

As a bonus, if you recruit Opera, you will eventually be able to😼 recruit Ernest (who also has three eyes, but does not come with a giant gun). Once you add Opera to your party, this ranged fighter will have you singing her praise in no time.

8 Shining Force, Zylo 🌌

Zylo from Shining Force preparing to attack

There are clearly not enough werewolf characters in RPGs, so when you see Zylo locked in a cage, you would have to be a fool not to engage in the quest to locate a cure for the madness that has overtaken him. Which💟, to be fair, isn't too much of a task; you just need to grab a lunar stone from theܫ quarry and bring it to a potion-making gentleman in town.

Your reward is Zylo, the Warwolf (yes, that is the name of his starting class). Zylo has excellent mobility and can tra𒁃vel great distances with ease. Zylo easily stand🅘s out as one of the coolest hidden characters in a game filled with them.

7 💙 Final Fantasy 6, Mog

Mog from Final Fantasy VI

There are a number of cool hidden characters in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Final Fantasy 6. One you can only acquire if you risk death by waiting for the last moment to flee a rapidly disintegrating floating is🎐land; another requires your entire party being swallowed by a Dune-esque sandworm. But Mog has to be the best of the bunch.

For starters, he is the only optional recruit that is available in both sections of the game. Beyond that, he is adorable. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Moogle mania started with Final Fantasy 6 and Mog is a big part of why they became so iconic. This adorable party member is even 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:featured on the box art (exclusively) of t🎃he North American version. How many hidden RPG characters can ma෴ke that claim?

6 Beyond The Beyond, Percy👍

Beyond The Beyond's Percy (battle sprite)

Beyond the Beyond was not Camelot's best-received game ever. However, it is a game that did a lot of interesting little things that have largely gone unnoticed due to its status as a pariah among PS1 RPGs. One of the 🔥best elements is its secret character. Early in the game, you have a knight in your party named Percy. Unfortunate🗹ly, he gets separated from the group. Sometime after this occurs, you encounter The Black Knight.

Eventually, you defeat him and discover that he was a possessed Percy all along. However, in your final encounter with The Black Knight, if you choose not to fight back, defending instead, Percy will survive the ordeal (and regain control over his𝄹 mind). One of the things Beyond the Beyond did extremely well was synergizing the story with the gameplay beautifully. Percy is an excellent example of that.

5 Ogre Battle, Deneb 💃

Ogre Battle's Deneb (superimposed over the Ogre Battle world map)

Deneb isn't just a hidden character in one Ogre Battle game, she is actually a hidden recruitable character in multiple games. In Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen, the most important first step in recruiting her is to not execute her after having defeated her in battle - which isn't going to be a popular decision wi𝓡th th𓆏e villagers in that area, given that she destroyed their entire crops for her own selfish reasons.

Later, you will do some busy work for her and she will eventually join up. This witch is morally dubious, but she makes up for her questionable ethics with her 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:impressive magical powers.

4 𒀰 💯 Chrono Cross, Glenn

Chrono Cross's Glenn (superimposed over Chrono Cross's world map)

Being an obvious callback to Frog from 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Chrono Trigger (he shares his huma💮n name as well as his dual art), Glenn is likely to be a character that most fans of the series would want to hav🌳e in their party. He is a super-powerful, duel-wielding knight. However, most people will likely miss him during their quest.

Recruiting Glenn requires refus൲ing to help Kidd (one of the central protagonists in the game) which many will be unlikely to do. However, once you do obtain Glenn, you will see that he is everything you could have ever wanted from a character. Even if recruiting him does require going against your gut.

3 ♏Fi♌nal Fantasy Tactics, Cloud Strife

cloud strife close up

That's right, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Final Fantasy 7's own Cloud Strife is a recruitable character in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Final Fantasy Tactics. The developers must have known that this would be an enticing prize because it sure isn't easy to unlock him. Cloud's class is the Soldier class, and all his moves are his l♓imit breaks. Is this super cool? Absolutely.

Though a word of warning, you are going to want to get him some Time Mage abilities if you are ever going to land those attacks. It is unquestionably awesome being able to have Cloud in your party, even if he isn't the best cha♍racter in the game (that would be Orlandu, and they just hand him to you). Also, in the long, elaborate, convoluted process of recruiting him, you will end up recruiting nearly every other secret character in the game - which is a🌄 pretty nice bonus.

2 ꧃ Suikoden 2, Mukum🍸uku

Suikoden 2's Mukumuku (superimposed over the Suikoden 2 world map)

The flying squirrel enemies made their first appearance in the first Suikoden as a generic enemy unit. However, these fabulous enemies, with their adorable capes, and their precious little booties, were made to be stars. Mukumuku is the first recruitable example of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:these adorable critters. He is extra special as he c🍃an be recruited long before y🍸ou actually start building your army.

If you analyze the tree near your family's dojo three times, you will find that this little critter has begun following you, and fr♛om that point on you have his loyalty. Mukumuku even appears in some of the early cutscenes (helping Nanami🐻 fight off troops during your escape from your execution). Mukumuku is great on his own, but the early-game cutscene integration really puts him over the top.

1 Persona, Reiji🌜 Ki𓂃do

A headshot of Persona's Reiji Kido

Acquiring Reiji Kido in the first Persona game requires encountering💦 him in a number of locations, talking to him numerous times, an🏅d keeping the final slot of your party open (which means refusing every other character's request to join your party).

It is absolutely possible to do this without following a guide, but it does require being extremely thorough. If you miss any of these interactions that are spread throughout the first half of the game, Reiji will be inaccessible. This would be a shame, as Reiji is a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:hard-hitting fist-fighter with one of the coolest Personas in the game. He also has a direct link to Kandori, which makes him a pretty interesting ꧙hidden character.
