It’s sale season over on Steam with various deals on some of our favourite indie games from 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:this year’s Indie Spotlight, and plent🦩y of others we haven’t yet had the pleasure of covering.

FTL

FTL Indie Spotlight

168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Faster Than Light needs absolutely no introduction - FTL is one of the all-time indie greats, with pretty much infinite replayability. The aim of the game is to govern a spaceship across a multi-planet, multi-system journey, facing the troubles and trials thro𓂃wn at you by the game’s cruel storytelling system. Aliens, pirates, mystical space beings—FTL has it all. I have spent many, many hours gritting my teeth and carrying on as my most recent spaceship has been blasted into du💟st. Currently at a massive discount on Steam.

Valheim

Valheim viking facing a troll

Valheim is one of the most impressive indie breakthroughs of the past few years. It was one of the first games I played as someone who writes about video games, and I c🌄ouldn’t have had a better introduction. Although development of the game has seemingly slowed to a snail’s pace, the game is still ripe with plenty of Norse survival action. Best enjoyed with a small group of friends, Valheꦍim will take you across seas, into swamps and plains of grass, to face off against huge bosses and discover unique treasures. Really can’t go wrong with it at this price.

Slay The Spire

slay the spire ironclad corruption deck

If you’ve never played 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Slay The Spire, I recommend you check it out immediately. It’s currently available on Game Pass for free, but it’s also massively discounted on Steam right now. Do not let cards turn you off. It&rsꩵquo;s probably the greatest deck-building title of all time and is intensely sophisticated and complex, but also very approachable for players who are completely new to the genre. You might ju🅰st fall in love with a whole new type of game.

The Forgotten City

Roman guard patrolling the market in The Forgotten City

The Forgotten City was our Game of the Year last year, a🌞nd you can rꦉead about why we all loved it so much here. In short, though, this is a brilliant journey back in time to a collapsing Roman city. It is eerie, full of mysteries, and has some of the best progressive storytelling we’ve ever played. It&rsquo🍰;s time🧸 to play this one, even if you’ve got a backlog of 2022 games to get through already.

Hades

zagreus standing at entrance to area

Hades is another game that needs next to no introduction. This roguelite follo✨ws the journey of Zagreus as he escapes from the Underworld (over and over and over and over again) while a cast of hilarious, loveable, and bꦡizarre characters tell their stories alongside your developing combat skills. A perfect balance of hack-and-slash and narrative. It doesn’t get much better than this.

Hollow Knight

Hollow Knight protagonist standing atop a rock

168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Hollow Knight is probably one of the best Metroidvania games ever made. I fell in love with the atmosphere but stayed for the difficulty of each level—there are always surprises, but if you invest the time you’ll be springing through each map with slightly more ease each time. The controls are intuitive, the boss battle🌸s are deceptively difficult but can be mastered over multiple playthroughs, and the continued free expansions the game received after its launch date have cemented Hollow Knight as a star.

To The Moon

To The Moon

To The Moon is one of those rare games that touched the very bottom of my otherwise cynical soul. It follows the story of two Doctors as they head into the flickering memories of a dying maౠn. They offer a chance for patients to live a second life, but everything plays out in the dying person’s mind. It’s dark, compelling, heart-warming, and a brilliant reflection on the meaning of life—video games can be a brilliant platform for storytelling when it’s pulled off with this amount of style.

Hotline Miami

The interior of a sketchy room in Hotline Miami

Hotline Miami is another iconic indie game that gets the Steam sale treatment. Fast-paced, stylish, and brutally difficult, Hotline Miami from Dennaton Games feels l🍸ike a very important game in terms of video game storytelling and gameplay. They weren’t afraid to get weird with it. This was also one of the really huge breakouts for indie publisher Devolver Digital, and we all k♛now how that’s ended up.
